This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Shocking? Not in the least. At the very least, she shouldn't pander to the far left by decrying the practices of Wal-Mart that she once had a good amount of control over. She could have changed and she didn't, because she (like all of us) act on Capitalist instincts when we are in a Capitalist society. She may get far-left votes by hasseling Wal-Mart, but she'll look two-faced to the rest of America, and that will cost her in her Presidental run.

This is awesome, now she'll lose the primary and I won't have to vote for a succubus.

How is being quiet about a topic pandering? I can't imagine the Wal-Mart thing being such an issue that it will cost or gain her the party's nomination. It appears that at best, she at one time tried to steer Wal-Mart in a more progressive direction (like Costco, for example) and at worst, she did nothing but earn a board member's salary. Either way, most agree that Wal-Mart is a different store since Sam Walton died (my grandfather new Walton and despises the companies current direction). I'm sure some will use this as fodder against her, but I don't foresee it sticking. There are plenty more substantial reasons to like or dislike Sen. Clinton. The fact that she has distanced herself from a company that has changed so much doesn't seem like much of anything. Nice long article, though.

I have to agree. The current Wal-Mart is a bastard son of the company Sam created.

I hate the feeling of clicking Post Comment just as you notice a typo. My grandfather knew Walton, not new him.

So the fact that she is quiet about her time with a company that the article states she made many positive changes in the corporate environment within means... what? The company has changed in almost every way since the death of Mr. Walton. Clinton distancing herself from the current situation there is commendable.

As Jason pointed out above, there are so many more reasons people could find to hate her that I seriously don't see this being an issue.

The people who live, breathe, and eat Wal-Mart (both the side that hates the company and the side that loves it) put stock into this. As time goes on, there is more and more media coverage of Wal-Mart from all angles. It's growing in importatnce to many people.

To a lot of people Wal-Mart does represent everything that's wrong with America. Not to be dismissive, but most of those people vote Green anyway. I doubt that Hillary's ties with Wal-Mart will cost her any votes in the primaries or (God forbid) the General Election.

Killfile: As much as I wish it weren't so, I've learned the hard way that Green party members don't blink at shooting themselves in the foot.

There shouldn't be any surprise that she would be involved with Wal-Mart, it's existence came from Arkansas.
That is their main Wally World.

To me it seems that a lot of words have been used here to say absolutely nothing. Bill and Hillary Clinton's had dealings with the largest company in Arkansas while he was governor. Hillary Served on the board and had a positive effect on the company while she was there. Bill and Hillary went to Washington, Sam Walton died, Walmart changed for the worse, and Hillary will no longer associate with the company or take their money.

So the problem here is what? This all sounds pretty integral to me.

If Wal-Mart decides that they should/can/have to raise their prices in response to this added business encumbrance, then I feel sorry for the relatively low income people that rely on Wal-Mart to get by from month to month.

Wal-mart if quite aggressive. I wonder what their response will be? Close all their Conn. stores? I doubt it, but a certain part of me wishes they would to remind government of exactly who it is that pays the bills. If WLMT thought that people would blame Hartford, then they might actually pull out of the state. But probably they will just raise their prices.

Dang! Didn't that lady leave the board in 1992.....and that was the same year Sam Walton died. Kinda funny to me that people say it was over how the company treated the women.....but no one talks about the direction that the company was making with taking "made in America" out of the stores and replacing with cheap crap.
Firstly, Walton's 5 & 10......Wal-Mart with a "hyphen" cause Sam knew proper English.....but now...."Wal*Mart" with a single large star in the name.....no flag poles out front with O' Glory flying in the wind.....just a bunch of cheap crap from China on all the shelves and people like Wang Yao, director of information department under the China General Chamber of Commerce saying "Buying more products in China means more job opportunities, which helps the firm win not only the government's hearts, but also the customers' appreciation. In the United States, poor people find it possible to afford cheap "Made-in-China" products for their daily necessities.......duh! Wang.....you can say that again! America is addicted to cheap crap...who needs quality anymore...just buy cheap...use it and throw it out....that the only way the consumer can stay up with the Jones.
This driving down prices that this company is so good at and no one talks about wages in America being flat. In 1986 ..a meat cutter made $19 an hour and now...$9. But in 2002 the meat cutters in a small town in Texas voted union with this company....and this was a throne in the side of a company that had cheap crap on their mind. So.....they just get rid of "all" meat cutters from all the stores and only sell prepackage meat items.
If everyone in America would spend a little time red....oooops! reading "Grandfather Economic Report" series...they would realize that "cheap crap" is not good for any nation. Wal*Mart with a star is not the same as Wal-Mart with a hyphen and there was a reason to put that "star" in the name and it had nothing to do with more jobs in America are better wages.......only cheap crap!
Today...the American consumer saving rate is a negative 1.4% ....and in China ....it's a plus 50%
Wal*Mart with that star is not in South Korea and Germany anymore...........why?
