I will miss Chef
you knew this was coming when they did the scientology episode.
Goodbye, children!
the best part of this is that they are showing the scientology episode this week.
Stone told The AP he and co-creator Trey Parker "never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until we did Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."
owned.
i hope they kill off his character approriately
I will miss chief too but Matt is right they can't start picking and choosing who they are going to make fun of now. Everyone else has been victim to there humor why not Scientology, and being that Tom Cruise has made himself such an easy target lately you would expect them to make a scientology episode.
That is funny.. Faith in Scientology of all things. Well go eat a bunch of chef's chocolate balls Mr. Hayes. Oh yeah and enjoy your very expensive cult as well.. Let me know when the mother ship comes.
The character of Chef should come down with depression, and refuse medication, then kill himself. Or maybe Tom Cruise should run him over with a motorcycle and a smile.
Unbelievably hipocritical. I hope he enjoys retirement to his spaceship, or whatever the hell Xenu resides in.
How in the world can anyone take his side on this?
The good thing about South Park though is that Trey and Matt are talented enough writers to get by without Chef if they have to.
This will be an interesting 10th season it seems ;)
The beginning of the article makes hayes seem like a great man, but the 2 South Park creators responded with truth and said it great. Good job to them.
I'm with Titan124; scientology needs to be critisized using truth - which is exactly what "South Park" manages to do.
I hope they seriously do an episode about Chef converting to scientology and leaving South Park. That would be fantastic.
South Park is still on tv?
Good riddance.
that sucks ... his voice will be hard to replace
I find what Matt Stone said very true:
"[He and co-creator Trey Parker] never heard a peep out of Isaac in any way until [they] did [an episode on] Scientology. He wants a different standard for religions other than his own, and to me, that is where intolerance and bigotry begin."
The satire in South Park is just that, satire. Sure, some people will be offended by the material, but I find it funny how Hayes doesn't have a problem with the show until it the jokes were directed against other groups of people.
Face it, we all are part of some minority that is at one time or another bashed on the show. Whether we are a Christian, a Jewish, someone who is fat, someone who is black, someone who is a shareholder of Wal-Mart Stock, or Scientologist for that matter, South Park is a show that makes fun of each and every one of us, yet we still like it. Why? Because we all respect the opinions of others. Even though South Park does not take a strictly serious approach to the issues it takes a stand on, there is always a purpose--a unifying idea--in each episode of the show that says something about the creators' views. It is this kind of ignorance that causes conflicts.
That being said, I perfectly respect Hayes' decision to quit his job on South Park. We all have our reasons for doing what we do, and all I have to say is that his character will be missed.
One question to ask: Did CoS put pressure on Hayes to quit South Park?
One question to ask: Did CoS put pressure on Hayes to quit South Park?
I'd bet on it
Religious beliefs are sacred to people, and at all times should be respected and honored.
Umm, no. Religious beliefs have gotten a free pass for far too long. Just because these beliefs are sacred to people does not mean that we should refrain from criticizing them. Any belief that cannot stand up to criticism is not a belief worth holding.
Whatever.
They can get the guy that played Audrey II in 'Little Shop of Horrors'.
One thing is true though, the way hollywood is owned by L.Ron's clan. We're lucky South park is still on the air.
Preach on Adam! This is extremely hypocritical of Isaac Hayes.
... "he can no longer stomach its take on religion." - Maybe it should be rephrased to he can no longer stomach its take on Scientology. The article sounded like he quit because he got tired of making fun of religion in general. Looked like he was doing something to better himself from making fun of people, but rather was upset about his bosses (Matt and Trey) making fun of Scientology.
Shame on you Chef. You know better than that.
First, they came for my neighbbors to the right. I cashed the check.
Then, they came for my neighbors to the left, and again I cashed the check.
Now, they have come for me, and I no longer need the check.
