This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Wow, this is the first time I have read and agreed with everyone on one thread. I say scientology is a high priced cult of goofball actors. I love South Park and Chef was cool but who wants to listen to another wacko scientologist, not me. peace Chef

They should have Kenny kill Chef.

OR, they could set it up so we are SO sure that Kenny is about to die, and then have chef randomly walk in and get taken down instead of Kenny:

"Oh My God! They killed ... Chef?" - Then the epsidode ends. They could then make the next episode about his funeral, which they could also turn into a clip show of some sort. This would be a nice way to give tribute to his cult hit character; Hayes may not deserve our tribute, but Chef certainly does.

Adam Kemp: well spoken, which is why I have to draw a parallel to "The God Who Was Not There", a very interesting documentary on the matter; it deals with why one actually has to critisise religion, as a lot of religious leaders do have access to extreme force, weapons and huge economic influence. Also, Sam Harris' book "The End of Faith" is quite interesting as critique (apart from the parts where the author was bewildered, and started lashing out at Noam Chomsky).

Perhaps "The End of Faith" suffered from the same problems that "The God Who Wasn't There" did. I became more disappointed in that film as it went on since it became more of a personal rant than a "documentary". Good soundtrack, though. :)

I remember years ago reading in the Boston Globe an interview with a man who reperesented an organization that wanted to defend Indian American from prejudice and stereotypes. When asked about Apu on The Simpsons he said "The Simpsons don't count. They make fun of everybody." Hayes take those words to heart.

      Oh NO!

How's he going to pay for all those Scientology courses now?

It's worth noting that Scientology wasn't even a religion to begin with, and only became one for tax reasons.

i've been keeping an eye on this thread and can't keep quiet any longer. i find your attitude toward scientology and isaac's desire to stand up for all religions repulsive. your collective religious intolerance is exactly why... (sorry, can't keep a straight face). seriously though: i don't claim to know much about the "religion", but having that nut job tom cruise as their de-facto spokesperson isn't helping them one bit. and chef, good riddance!

There's a church of scientology right next to my college campus (University of Texas at Austin). Those people freak me out...sometimes the stand in the walkway and give you this creepy smile while trying to make you take literature about their cracked-out religion.

I like the idea someone had above about writing Chef out of the show by making him a Scientologist, and him going crazy. The "crazy" part will explain why his voice isn't the same for his final episode.

      @rthur

Where was he when they made fun of Mormons? They did one whole episode about Joseph Smith, and mocked Mormons on several other episodes. Where was his outrage? He is just ticked because the finally got around to making fun of Scientologist, which Hayes is one of. So basically mock every ones beliefs but mine.

      Just my $.02

I'm more shocked by this than anything I've ever seen on South Park. So... he's cool with making fun of every single race, sex, sexual orientation, club or group on the planent, EXCEPT this particular one, which barely needs South Park's help to be laughable.

They should do a scathing joke about Scientology in every single episode from here on.

My main issue with what he's doing is that if he was REALLY upset with the scientology episode (which was wonderful) he should have quit when it aired. And the comparison to the Mormon episode is very good - it was just as mean to Mormons.

Quitting now only shows (at least in my mind), that he was pressured to do this, most likely from the Church, and therefore his intentions are hardly pure. Had he actually quit when it aired, or when they created it in the first place, I think I would have respected his beliefs, as wacky as I may find them to be personally.

The Church of Scientology is VERY powerful CULT. Not just a religion. A CULT. This is just another example of why it is called a cult.

mlarsen: i was kidding. no one had posted pro scientology so i did, but couldn't continue - hence the not keeping a straight face. if i ruled the world, i'd take nine (or however long he was on the show) years worth of backpay for being a hypocrite - then let's see how much of a scientologist he'd be.

i'd like to hear a scientologist's point of view on this though, because it's just no fun bashing something when they don't fight back.

Oh! My comment has been censored. Thanks, big brother newsvine. :)

But let me rephrase it in a more politically correct way.
My original comment was very politically incorrect and, in keeping with the
"south park" theme, appropriate (or so I thought.)

I find it sad and also ironically amusing that isaac hayes would choose to
leave the "south park" fold citing that the show has overstepped the
bounds of good taste and intolerance.

Has he not seen south park? The undercurrent of the entire show is to satirize.

Scientology was satirized much the same as christianity and mormonism.

Why the outcry now, chef? "Too close to home.......and too near the bone" it would seem.

I do wish him well, however. And I hope that Matt & Trey continue
lampooning those things in our society which require it. :)

            Cheers.

Oh and if anyone read my previous post about scientology I apologise.

I didn't mean to paint the mentally ill with such a broad brush.

I apologise to you, the reader and also to those of us in society
who are mentally less-able. This was an unfair comparison and
I wish to set the record straight.

The Mentally challenged had no choice in becoming so whereas the
            Scientologists make a conscious choice.

My apologies to all those Mentally challenged folks out there who
took offense at my earlier comment.
