Honestly, why does the political opinion of a singer matter? He is a great guitarist - but does that make him a quotable personage in regards to politics? I just don't get it.
Tell that to Bono, finalcut! Not that I don't agree with you. But here's a dirty secret of the news biz: Sometimes you run short of words and have to run filler. So you work a topical angle on an otherwise routine press release. Then you punch out and go drink away the memory of your youthful idealism.
lol - i suppose that's true enough - but this blurb doesn't even bear the same weight as a typical Bono one. Perhaps Santana is jealous of the "political weight" Bono has nowadays and wants a piece of the action.
I don't remember having youthful idealism - I'm jealous.
I'd like to speak out against Bono. Heh.
I'm still scratching my head over here and wondering why only select people (ie the general public) are allowed to speak out politically. I didn't realize it was unacceptable for entertainers to share their opinions.
Because that is what he did right? Just kinda threw his thoughts out there all willy nilly?
Silly Carlos. Just continue playing that sweet guitar of yours and keep your yap shut. Apparently you're not allowed to think for yourself or be a dissenting voice.
No - i don't care if entertainers share their political opinions - i just don't see why it is news. When did his opinion on politics garner enough weight to matter to the rest of the world? So he is an expert guitarist - hooray. Should the AP run over and get my neighbors opinion and write an article on it - he is an expert car mechanic.
That's the point - Santana is just a guy who plays the guitar (albeit very well) - why does his opinion merit news coverage?
