Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

There's a much better way of solving this problem: Games should carry a warning saying "Do not buy if your kid is nuts".

So was he playing "Warcraft: Orcs and Humans" or "World of Warcraft?" There's a huge difference, the former being about 10 years old (or older), and the latter being a MMORPG.

I fail to see how a label saying that the game was suitable for people above the age of 13 would have stopped this. Would the parents have actually kept their child from playing the game? Probably not. American parents don't seem to pay attention when they purchase Grand Theft Auto games for little eight year old Johnny, why would Chinese parents be any different. And if the kid was screwed up enough at the age of 13 to do this, would being 14, 15, or even 18 have made a difference?

Anyway, if he was dumb enough to kill himself over a game, then this is Darwinism at its finest.

The suit says Aomeisoft failed to include a warning that the game's U.S. maker rates it as suitable only for players above age 13, according to Xinhua.

Too bad the game company did not do the parents job of raising a sane child, and did not keep the child with obvious mental problems away from video games.

The boy played the game for 36 hours straight at a "gaming hall", and he is 13. I think the parents really need to be looked at for not keeping better tabs on their child. Perhaps my parents were over protective, but there was no way they did not know my whereabouts and what I was doing when I was 13.

Especially for 36 straight hours, I'd reckon!

When I was 13 I was more or less locked down to about 500 yards from the doorstep and if I ventured further I had to have someone with me at all times......which seems reasonable because at least you have a friend or companion (possibly family member?) beside you at all times and know the exact whereabouts of you.

These days? Parents give their children mobile phones and a set of car keys and tell them not to bother them because they "are too busy" to deal with them.

I'm also noticing a huge increase in younger and younger children staying out later and later and by themselves......I work shifts and when I come back home at around 11pm to midnight, I still see very young children playing football in the street. It's insane.
