Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

For some reason my comments are posting without the user name so....this is -=D3_V_US=-

oil is dangerous. I cant wait until we dont have to depend on it anymore. That will be great day for all of mankind and animals alike.

We're looking into the disappearance of your display name. It looks like a kidnapping (er, display-name-napping).

I can't believe that the oil spill's effects are still present. I remember the spill as a little kid. It amazes me that animals are still suffering as a result.

Thanks for the help with the name (I dont know how someone could take it though).

I dont know much about todays tankers, but I hope they have measures to protect against this kind of thing now. To think that something that happened 17 years ago is still effecting the wildlife...its just sad I guess (Im kind of an environmentalist I guess)

You dont have to be an environmentalist to realize how sad this is. Nearly two decades on oil is still affecting the environment of Alaska. The oil will problably linger there for atleast a generation if not more.

Basically a cursory check of what is going on globally will reveal that BigOil is fighting tooth and nail to keep provisions like double hulling tankers from becoming law. Then a big spill will occur, and there is some fist shaking and rhetoric. Then an even bigger spill will occur and the fist shaking and rhetoric gets really loud.
