There's still people using dialup?

I know. At this point (well, for two more days) I'm lower class. I've had broadband for years. It's almost necessary for people who have high usage of the internet.

Unfortunately, yes, dial-up is still the only option for some. My parents live in a rural area in central Illinois where DSL has only very recently (since 2004) become available. Even though it is available now, the price has been prohibitive (> $60/mo for the basic packages). I do believe that the price went down to something affordable a few months ago, but for anyone who only occasionally uses the internet, the $20/mo dial-up is just fine.
I've been so convinced over the years that people have broadband that I think these results are flawed. Since when is 30k-50k considered middle class? 30,000 a year isn't that much money.

So true Titan124. 30K may have been middle class in the 80s. To be considered middle class nowadays, you need to be in the 70-100K range.
Yeah I read an article somewhere that said a family of 4 needs 36k/year to live.

Back in the 90's I heard that 36K/yr was a decent wage (18$US/hour) for single person to live independently and comfortably beyond subsistance (i.e., including saving for emergencies, retirement, investment, taxes etc.). 36K for a family of four seems low.

In the 24th century there'll be no hunger, there will be no greed, and all the children will know how to read.
