"For those who believe there's an excessive amount of drinking on campus, now there's something else that's common on campuses."
Alcoholism or materialism? Pick'em!
In a rare instance, Apple Computer Inc.'s iconic iPod music player surpassed beer drinking as the most "in" thing among undergraduate college students
Trust me, folks, beer is not, nor has ever been or will be "out."
What the article fails to mention is that the survey was limited to students from Bob Jones University.
Student Monitor conducted the survey the week of March 6, interviewing full-time undergraduate students at 100 U.S. colleges.
Where did you see that it was just at Bob Jones?
I was joking. I was aware that my comment didn't jibe with the "100 U.S. colleges" line, but decided to make it anyway. Sorry if this bothers anyone. I agree with Corey's original comment:
beer is not, nor has ever been or will be "out."
I do wonder, though, what specific colleges were included in this survey, as this could drastically affect the results.
Oh, haha I didn't realize you were joking. =P
I would be interested to see what colleges were polled - I highly doubt ol' Ohio State was on the list.
@Corey (post #2) - phew! Thanks for the reassurance! I was worried there for a minute!
;-)
Makes sense. After all, kids can legally listen to their iPods in public.
it's apples and oranges.. if you listen to an ipod it doesnt go away.. Now ask them for an infinite beer pouring bottle or an ipod and the survey would change.
or even if you asked if they would rather have a beer or a 1 play only ipod.. i think the beer would win.
Beer will win.
Always.
Always.
Of course beer isn't the most "in" thing.....it's not a fad, it's a classic that will never go out of style! :P
Most college kids aren't old enough to drink beer.
Was it absolutely necessary or relevant that they use the picture that they used for this article? I'm almost certain it was used for another AP article written a while back. It looks like its even got the same photo title?
What the researchers failed to mention is that most if not all of the kids surveyed were either drunk or drinking while listening to their iPods.
I wonder if the results would have been different if the study was conducted in Canada.
