With everything that is going on in the world, Massachussetts senators are arguing about fluffernutter sandwhiches? Truly sad, makes me glad I have no idea what a fluffernutter sandwhich is.

Phaedrus72, if you don't know what a fluffernutter sammich is, you're missing out, man! That's heaven on white bread! It really probably isn't something that kids should have for their main meal every day, but let's face it - it's no worse than counting ketchup as a vegetable.

I'm confused, I thought Massachussetts senators were Fluffernutters.

He loves Fluff as much as the next legislator
I'm not sure many legislators would like to be associated with a statement like that. Perhaps only in Massachusetts!

I smell a mis-spelling.
It may have been meant to say, "He loves Muff as much as the next legislator."But I could be wrong.

I love fluffernutter sandwiches :-) No matter how trivial, this is something good coming from America ! *grin*

I'm sort of entertained to hear someone actually paid $500 in pre-war dollars for the recipe to marshmallow goop. Only a guy would do that -- think there's some kind of secret formula to sugar and egg whites.
Marshmallow Fluff is also used as an ingredient in some very tasty fudge recipes. :)

When mixed with soft cream cheese, it makes a delicious fruit dip also.

Now I'm getting hungry, even though it's just after dinner and I already had chocolate mousse :)

Does this make anyone else question the senator's parenting approach a bit? Shouldn't he be able to teach his child that eating a (delicious) fluffernutter every day is not a good idea/acceptable? Also, since when is lunch the 'main meal of the day'? I have always thought of dinner as the main meal, especially since its supposed to be eaten with your family, and of course breakfast is the 'most important' as it helps you break fast for the day. Sorry, I couldn't resist.
Lastly, only a politician would attempt to turn a specific incident with his child's school into a state (nation?) wide issue and pass a law about it. Go talk to the school board, jackass, this is the kind of thing they're there for.

Only a liberal politician would do that. That is what liberals do. This guy probably hasn't seen his child in months. The nanny probably has dinner duties.
I'm a liberal. Where do I sign up for my nanny? I hadn't even realize that's what we liberals do. I'm going to have to catch up on reading my Liberal Handbook and check my fax machine to make sure I'm getting the Daily Talking Point fax from the Streisand Compound.

I am meaning to say, Brad, that only a liberal would attempt to nationalize how he/she feels his children should be raised. Only a liberal would turn what should be his parenting duties into national law. Read the liberal handbook. It's there. That's what liberals are known for. It's called socialism.
Perhaps there should be a law where republicans are obliged to have democratic nannies, and vice versa.

Thanks! You can't believe how difficult it is to be a liberal and not to know what crazy-ass ideas you're supposed to support. Fortunately, there are plenty of conservatives such as yourself and Sean Hannady who seem to be more than willing to clue us in. You must be quite familiar with the Liberal Handbook. Perhaps you could refer me to the chapter dealing with nannies and with "nationalizing" child rearing. I mean, how am I going to know what I support unless somebody tells me?
Rush? Neil? Scarborough? Brit? Phaedrus?

Can you get me a copy of this handbook, they were all checked out from my library. However, they had plenty of the 'presumptious know-it-all conservative handbooks' lying around in the 'free box'

Brad, you just don't get it, do ya? When I referred to nannies, I was referring to politicians and the rich in general, not just liberals. Liberals are well known for trying to push how they personally feel onto the general public. Case in point, smoking bans. This is generally a liberal idea. This senator didn't like that his child's school was serving this nuttbutter sandwhich for lunch every day, so he tries to pass a law stating that it is illegal to do so. This is a typical liberal thing to do.

Hey, I'm not complaining, I'm just thankful that you know so much about me without ever having met me. Myself, I didn't realize until you just now told me that I'm supposed to support the pushing of how I personally feel onto the general public. I guess that, in addition to "smoking bans," you're probably referring to those liberal "pushing how you personally feel onto the general public" ideas like banning abortions, or maybe such wack liberal ideas as a ban on gay marriage. Yep, you certainly do know a lot about us liberals and what things we typically do.
When I want to know what a liberal is supposed to do, I should just ask a conservative. When I want to know how to field a line drive, I should ask a basketball player. When I want to know the best kind of beer to drink, I should ask a non-drinker. When I want to know which is a better steak, ribeye or new york strip, I should ask a vegetarian. When I want to know how it feels to be old, I should ask a young person. Hey, I think I'm starting to catch on!

Phaedrus, I am 1) liberal, 2) not an American, and 3) a woman. Could you perhaps make it slightly more simple for me to follow your train of thought?

From liberal politician to liberal to politician in general and rich in general, all that in a couple of sentences. There also are two 'probablies' in there to complicate the matter. My head hurts.

Brad, one does not have to be a serial killer to know what they do. You don't have to be a liberal to know their game plan. By being politically educated, it is very easy to stay informed of liberal ideology and tactics.
So is your argument really gonna be,"Hey conservatives do it too"? Abortion is a bad example, as most conservatives see it as murder and most people, liberal or conseravative are against murder. I think. Not all conservatives want to ban gay marriage.
Not all conservatives want to ban gay marriage.
Very astute observation, Phaedrus. Guess what? Not all liberals want to ban fluffernutter sammiches, either. How about that? Conservatives don't all fit into a nice neat box, and neither do liberals. What a concept.

Liberals are well known for trying to push how they personally feel onto the general public.
Or, in other words, "Hey kettle, this is the pot. You're black."
You cannot possibly, with a straight face, say that trying to push personal beliefs onto others via legislation is a predominantly liberal tactic.
That is precisely what the attempt to ban gay marriage is. I don't want to fully get into that issue in this thread, but that is exactly what it is and you cannot possibly deny it.

That is true, and I have said before that it is abhorrent when the right tries to do it as well. I am a non smoker, but I hate it when the left tries to tell grown people what they can and can not do. Liberals have successfully banned smoking in bars in some states, for Christ's sake! I also don't like it when the religious right tries to put the ten commandments in governement buildings. They are both wrong. But it is the particular political correctness of the left that I particularly despise.
I prefer neutral. There are things that both sides are good at, and things that they are weak at. When they are fused, you get harmony.

OK...

Wow. Despise. OK.
So, when you personally do it
Liberals are well known for trying to push how they personally feel onto the general public.
it's not the right and it's not the left. It's not abhorrent, and you don't despise it. You may consider, Phaedrus72, that there is a certain, um, "credibility" that goes along with having consistent viewpoints. Not only that, people will be much less likely to think of you as being hypocritical if you wouldn't express contradictory viewpoints from comment to comment to suit the discussion.
It never fails to disappoint me to hear you use terms like "despise" and "typical liberal thing to do" when you are referring to a group of people about whom you obviously have very little knowledge. It disappoints me because I know that you are a smart guy, and that you are capable of understanding that such generalizations are harmful. It seems that you only notice the harm when it is addressed at you personally, or at groups that you at least partially identify with, or when it comes from someone who you believe belongs to a group that you see fit to disparage. It is disappointing only because that type of behavior makes it seem pointless to argue with you. You didn't ask for my advice, I wouldn't pretend to be able to give you advice, and I'm not going to go any further than that. You are perfectly capable of sorting these things out for yourself.

Yes, Brad there are certain ideologies that I 'despise'. Sorry if that offends you. That is quite different though than saying I depise a certain person or persons, which I did NOT say. I despise such ideologies as communism, socialism, far left-wing liberalism, political correctness, far right-wing extremist conservatism. People are people, but they can foster some pretty crazy ideas.
I prefer neutral.
What makes a man turn neutral? Lust for gold? Power? Or were you just born with a heart full of neutrality?
