People don't seem to understand the value of vocational education. The college track is NOT for everyone, and shouldn't be. There seems to be a recent overemphasis in middle class America on moving all high school graduates on to college, and an excessive effort to prevent these individuals from "wasting" their lives in 2-year programs or endeavors. In doing this, you are preventing those who would prefer a vocational class carreer (one where most of the education comes from on-the-job experience) from getting this experience, and creating excessive financial burdens. I am in college, but I know many happy peers who have forgone it and have successful businesses doing landscaping, automotive work, design, etc. Whatever you call it, a large segment of our populations neither needs nor wants a 4-year college program.
