Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Funny that this article comes on the heels of O'Reilly failing to show up to a fund raiser which would have had Olbermann and O'Reilly meet for the first time.

I felt sorry for Olbermann when his show imploded on MSNBC the first time around. And I find it interesting that the article leaves out his time at Fox Sports Net, where he imploded again. I think when they write the final analysis of Keith's career he will best be remember as Dan Patrick's Sportcenter partner...although the much more talented Kenny Mayne may make that impossible as well.

On second thought, why would anyone bother to analyze Olbermann's career? He just isn't important enough.

I'm so glad to see and hear that people are starting to see Fox News Channel for what it is:blatant neocon propaganda, character assassines, smear merchants, demagogs of prejudice and ignorance, fear and war mongering. They count on the apathy and complacency of [their] audience and sadly the ignorance of them.Joseph Goebbels would be green with envy to see what Murdock has pulled off here.I think Peter Finch's charecter "Howard Beale" from the 1976 movie "Network" was dead on about coorprate controlled media and how devistating it could be if the coorparation controlling them had a questionable motives(everyone should watch this movie it would freak them out on how prophetic it is). Anyway Olbermahn is RIGHT ON, don't let up Keith GIVE'M HELL!

The key issue here is a word called "demographics".Has anyone ever noticed that on days of outrageous rjght wing quotes or possible Republican indictments, all that day's typical news shows' topic, the "O'reilly fiction" show resorts to it's tried and true formula of a "Jessica's law" episode, and, or, liberal judges and their sentencing guidelines, or teachers' collective abuse of their students? All the while NANA and PAPA are, between dozes, yelling "That's right, give em hell Bill"...Here's what Faux news won't say....Their ratings may be demographically strong and consistent....but it's because their wheelhouse is the audience that's already dozed off and, most likely, dropped the remote and can't pick it up! Saying that Keith Olberman has thin skin ( and O'Reilly doesn't ) is a quintessential "Mad TV, or Saturday Night Live" self parody skit. Your martyrdom for comedic fodder has surely made a comedy writers' job much easier, your hypocrisy has made any rational person's viewing choice much easier, and your political redundancy has already nearly euthanized our collective grandparents, which is why we have to wake them in the middle of Hannity so they can go to bed! Also the Faux network is the biggest violator re truth in advertising...how do their moderators keep a straight face as they stoically chant the "kool-aid" mantra of "fair and balanced?"...I apologize, I meant to leave a succinct comment, but the Faux demons took over....Since O'Reilly has his own police network, might it be possible he has his own exorcism posse that I might avail myself of? PS...before all you English majors crucify me,I KNOW I shouldn't end a sentence with a PROPOSITION?!?...Where's the emoticons when you need one?

Characterizing what Faux News does as "public relations" is like saying the Iraq War is a victory for democracy ... oh wait, Faux News is saying that. Um, characterizing what Faux News does as "public relations" is like saying Saddam Hussein had weapons fo mass destruction ... oh wait, Faux News is saying that. Um, characterizing what Faux News does as "public relations" is like saying Iraq was responsible for 9/11 ... oh wait, Faux News is saying that. Um, well, characterizing what Faux News does as "public relations" is a great disservice to the public relations industry. Really. Honest. Besides, that rift the FAUX OR woman did on Keith was really funny - made her look like a dolt. But then again - she does work at Faux News.

Whoa, whoa,whoa.....I'm a computer neophyte....I started at the Huffpo site, and to quote David Byrne of the "Talking Heads"....."How did I get here?"....Well, I don't know, but now that I see I'm considered an "author" for merely trying to post a comment....I'll probably stay, and bask in the wisdom and confirmation of the obviously intelligent editors at newsvine.com. All I did was continue to fill in the prerequisite blanks to be able to post a comment. So to be fair to all of my future readers and fans, here's my caveat;...in deference and reverence to poetry and,or, rap....my "handle" on this site is,I think, "askewedview", which is what I do, in reviewing the news, and cable TV, not only for you...but also for me!? Wow...I just reread that last statement, I think that's enough pot for tonight! If there's anything you would like me to purview...I'm sorry...never mind! Here's hoping that no matter what, we ALL look at issues with a truly FAIR view.....Goodnight now...

Ah Mikey: you say "On second thought, why would anyone bother to analyze Olbermann's career? He just isn't important enough." If that were true, neither Bill O' or the Faux News PR genius would be spending this much time on him. Look at his ratings Mikey: Keith is doing better then Bill O' - a few more years, and most of the Faux News crowd will have died or moved into nursing homes. And Keith's audience will be running America.

    ;-))

How is Keith doing better than Bill O'reilly in ratings? Bill ignored Keith for a long time but if someone is making false statements about you daily, you have to respond eventually. Only reason Keith has gotten the little bump that he has gotten is because Bill took the time to recognize that he exist.

I know I said goodnight but I wanted to concur with "tc" and add that it won't take "a few more years" for these flaming, non compromising idiots to go away...all it will take is a different party to be in control and these empty headed, rhetorical Faux news stars will not have the choir to preach to. Let's face it they're not exactly cultivating the youth market, since their popularity is the audience that tunes into Faux at 7pm and are asleep by 7:30, thereby verifying their Neilson numbers that Faux viewers are loyal....Duh..it's cuz they're in a coma! Ever notice the correlation between their "popularity" and the number of years of incompetent Republican "we know what's best for you" leadership? I'm sorry but I could go on for hours...but because of obligations on the 'morrow...I have to check out...But like Arnold..." I'll be back!"

The problem with mean-spirited, sneering dismissals of people and things you disapprove of is that it only works for a while.

Faux (And faux conservatives in general) are learning that "friends come and go, but enemies accumulate."

Some of the things said in the corporate name of fox, on behalf of O'Rielly and in the name of "Public Relations" assumes that if a gag was funny twenty years ago on SNL, why, it must be funny all the time.

It also presumes that most people are unable to discern the difference between entertainment, news and outright propaganda.

Apparently that's not true even of the Fox audience.

That, or they are looking for a fresh "reality show" - and Kieth Olbermann has a format that ain't jumped the shark yet.

Let's face it - watching the veins pulse in O'Rielly's temple IS fun. And seeing how many times you have to poke Fox before they "Go Nuclear" and say something hysterically inappropriate is a gift to Straight Men everywhere.

Not to mention Same Sex Couples.

Olbermann skewers Bill O' (and his ilk) with his own words unlike the Big Head who uses half-truths, doctored video, and outright falsehoods to put his bogus positions in the public arena. Whether you like the format of Keith's show or not it is entertaining and informative--more than you can say for the Faux News Network. And if you look at ratings it appears Ailes and Company have more to worry about than MSNBC.

I like Kieth. I watch his program every night. Sure, he was catchy and witty on ESPN, but he's having a lot more social impact now. We need to hear his side too. My polls only go as far as my front door, and so far Kieth Olbermann's got the big numbers at my house

I'm baaaack! And with an attitude....I'm pissed that now that I consider myself an "author",...why not a better response from the masses re my profundities? To Bob King, I think I get your correlations....Just unsure of your cohesiveness. How does one's sexual preference enter into the demographics?...As to Mike Eldreth...I'm pretty sure the Howard Beale character is pretty much the ONLY intelligent casting decision any producer at Faux ever made, if it wasn't a possibility to become reality, who would watch O'Reilly? You know what they say..."he's got the perfect face for radio!" And as to your comment re Josep Goebels....you may as well save THAT correlation for your time on "Jeopardy"....you're trolling in deep water for big game with a minnow! Just how much of the populace in this country, never mind our recent high school, or for that matter college, grads, could tell you the capitol of Maryland, as an example? If your not sure, then just watch the "Jaywalking" portion of the Tonight show! So I think you're overshooting to expect anyone to know Goebel's "philosophy of propoganda", never mind "Mein Kempf" or "The Third Reich"! Regardless, good point , to the EXTREME minority who get it....My "mission statement" on this site is not to backslap like minded thinkers....it's to provoke the dull witted from the other side to expose and justify THEIR pov....With this caveat....don't come in unarmed, remember that OPINIONS are like @!$%#s, we all have one....this is not Faux news...be substantive, or go preach to the choir!.....PS...to Democrab...I hope the eleven minutes between identical posts is the tech equivilent of a Mel Tillis stutter, and nothing neurological....best wishes..."Askewedview"...PPS...Being too lazy to look it up, you tell me, is it Goebels or Gerbels?

Mr.Archer, thanks for your comments about my comments. Its good to see that there are people who don't buy everything the news media puts out there. We need to help our fellow countrymen and women fine-tune their B.S. detectors.I also agree that its sad more people know more about who's winning "American Idol" than what this government is up to!Oh yea ,I see I misspelled "corporation" but you know what I'm talking about, thanks man.

"Because of his personal demons, Keith has imploded everywhere he's worked. From lashing out at co-workers to personally attacking Bill O'Reilly and all things Fox, it's obvious Keith is a train wreck waiting to happen. And like all train wrecks, people might tune in out of morbid curiosity, but they eventually tune out, as evidenced by Keith's recent ratings decline. In the meantime, we hope he enjoys his paranoid view from the bottom of the ratings ladder and wish him well on his inevitable trip to oblivion."

That's hysterical since the entire statement is one giant personal attack, bordering on character assassination. Coming from a PR department for a massive network, it makes Fox look even more pathetic. The losers can't even muster up enough professionalism to make their PR guys look any better than teenagers. It's laughable.
