But defense attorneys insist the 25-year-old victim swallowed the phone intentionally to prevent Gill from finding out who she'd been calling.

Somehow, I don't think the defense that she swallowed her own phone is going to fly very well.

She did admit she was really drunk though... I guess I can't say I've ever thought that swallowing a phone was a good idea, even when I've been extremely drunk. Maybe she thought it was a Swiss Cake Roll.

    Touche.

I pray the day never comes when I get so drunk I eat a phone. White Castle, I can live with that, my cell phone, no.

I can't imagine swallowing a phone, even if your ringtones play Barry White. Oh, baby.

How the hell do you swallow a mobile phone? She must have been good at other things too.

Excuse me? Wasn't this story about an textbook abusive relationship and felony first-degree assault?

Yeah, its dramatic, and makes a bizarre headline. But its still (allegedly) abuse, and categorizing this purely as "odd news" and making cracks about the victim being drunk and good in bed is just sick. If this were your sister, what would you say?

Here's hoping she goes from victim to survivor!

It is funny because you don't really hear about a phone being shoved down someones throat every day. We should probably remember that it's in people's nature to make light of sometimes horrendous situations — something about it helping people cope whether they need to or not.

I'm not trying to downplay the seriousness of the alleged abuse and I'm pretty sure that's not anybody else's intention either.

        OK, how about this punchline....
        'Stick that down your ringer'...
Relax will you? Take a look at all the other responses on this thread and you'll see that not many people are taking this story seriously but at the same time no one is undermining the seriousness of domestic abuse. You took my comment to be one of sexual nature because you were just looking to start an argument in my opinion.

There is a lesson to be learned from this story, if you suffer from domestic abuse the worst thing you can do is keep it to yourself, it'll only get worse unless you bring it to the open and go to the authorities.
