Chinese defense spending?  BO-RING.  I wanna hear more about the hybrid dog-rodent… and Justin Timberlake!  Besides, here in the good ol' USA, we're the only world superpower, remember?

No, seriously, though: thank you, Wal-Mart, for contributing to the rapid and profound militarization of China.  Um, is anyone else kinda frightened by this?  I mean, even if it's nothing, really — should we really be starting wars at this point?

"It's better for the U.S. to shut up," Sha said. "Keep quiet. It's much, much better."

This made me laugh. This is something one would expect from a crude caricature of a Chinese politician, yet here we have an actual politician using lines like this.

It's comedic gold despite the seriousness of the situation.

To be quite sadistic China has a completely lopsided gender ratio - since in most nations only men are allowed in direct combat - couldn't this be an answer to other problems? natural selection - only their strong (or lucky) will survive - US has 12% (approx) of their population in defence forces - that's a lot, maybe they should shut up! ... the US use defence force employment to get around unemployment for lower income demographic groups... shouldn't the rest of the world be allowed to use defence forces for more than just defence...
