When will these people get it right? The 'Mormon church' is the nickname for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Not the 'Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'. Not the 'Reformed Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints'.

The article itself says that the LDS Church has not endorsed polygamy for over 100 years, so why refer to these people as a 'Mormon Sect', when that is not the case? Why not just say 'polygamist sect'? Why continue to promote these inaccurate stereotypes? Is it intellectual laziness? Is it ignorance? I wish I knew.

Well, do the polygamists in question refer to themselves as Mormons?

Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

yes isnt that the name for the split off group, that renamed itself when utah banned poligamy.
many went to mexico, some later came back?
Pretty sure they have been calling themselves that for 100 years.. er the splinter group.

I am just glad we can take this guy off the americans most wanted list and use that space for someone dangerous. And not just a religious vote getter.

They are fundamentalist Mormons. They follow the book of Mormon. And I 'm pretty sure they refer to themselves as Mormons.

So who decides if they should be called Mormons or not?

If I call myself George W. Bush, do you think the Secret Service will let me sleep in the Lincoln Bedroom? If I call myself Microsoft, can I sell my own copies of Windows XP?

This is pretty cool list of Mormons..you will be surprised who are mormons..not necessarily a bad things. Through my experience, Mormons have been a very trustworthy and intelligent group of people despite the "weird" perspective from the media and other church leaders. Ohh and AP should correct the sentence "A polygamist Mormon sect leader" as it portrays that this guy is a Mormon when he is not.
