    Sadly this is so common in Hong Kong. Actresses shell out tens of thousands for their public events wardrobes only to wear the dress once. It's an Asian thing about maintaining face, and also a Hong Kong thing since the people's lives are so dry they turn to celeb mongering for entertainment. My friends have been in the Hong Kong tabloids several times just because they hang out with a certain singer's sister.
