What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Ugh, I hate this. These people are expressing their creativity online and these companies are just looking for more money and it's ridiculous.

I would understand if MTV, BET, CMT, VH1, and whomever else had an issue with it.

When will these record companies come to realize that by allowing people to share the music videos they are building a larger fan base by giving people the opportunity to view videos by artist that the consumer may otherwise not have heard.

This is just idiotic in my mind. Yes, the sites do allow people to abuse copyright law if THE USER chooses to. Much like a dvd recorder or vcr does. If they were going after users, at least it would make legal sense (still not good business or moral sense...but that's another issue), but actually going after the sites is just logically and legally bizarre and pointless.

Hetep and Respect Good Spirits, sooner or later these "business" will come to understand that they can not, in the long run, increase business by attacking their customers.

Long live social networking!
