Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Chavez has made other claims of assassination plots in the past, including a case involving 27 Colombians and three former Venezuelan military officers who were convicted last October by a military court for allegedly plotting to kill him.

He could also just be paranoid. Dictators usually end up being that way for some reason.

1. There's evidence the US is plotting to overthrow him.
2. There was a coup, he was in prison, and the US accepted the non-democratic regime faster than you can say oil interests co-conspirator.
3. He is not a dictator.

Sounds like more people than just George W. Bush want to pick him off. Now why would that be?

3. He is not a dictator.

Have you seen the company the man keeps? Who he keeps around him is a good litmus of who he is. And none of his best pals are elected officials besides Ahmadinejad, who has no power anyways.

He uses money to help the poor.

Nice backtracking and guilt by association, key principles of the right. If you actually researched past recent headlines you'd know that Chavez has been creating relationships with other democratic South American leaders.

Maybe you need to look at the amount of money the United States donates to the poor. It's hardly a remarkable feature.

Ah because you are of course, far more enlightened than us more conservative types.

If you actually researched past recent headlines you'd know that Chavez has been creating relationships with other democratic South American leaders.

Oh yeah? These same headlines also say he's pissing off about as many democratic leaders as he tries to befriend.

He uses money to help the poor, there's a big difference.

Oh yeah? These same headlines also say he's pissing off about as many democratic leaders as he tries to befriend.

Yes, I did say you were reading headlines and jumping to the wrong conclusions.

Good news people, I recently found that you can, for free, thanks to google video, watch the most important video on the subject:

The Revolution Will Not Be Televised, a film shot from inside the palace showing the US-approved coup from start to finish to reversal and redemption for Chavez.

Any understanding of Venezuela is not complete without seeing this film. Let me know what you think!
