What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

When is the last time someone was chastised for wearing a green hat and saying "top of the morning to you" on st. Patrick's day?

So we're cool offending black Irish folk so long as it's only based on mocking their nationality?

Irish may not be a "race" according to some, but in a lot of areas they constitute a minority among any community. The principle remains the same, you are making fun of something, that you don't fully understand. Often people don't understand it at all.

My point is why should there be a double standard? It's ok to mock this group, but this group is off limits? And then by what scale is this based on?

The University of Texas has one of the largest minority populations in the country. They may not be African American but other "minorities" (I hate that word) are a majority of students at UT.
