Schroeder: Bush's Faith Raised Suspicion

advertisement

GAUNTLET THROWN: President Bush called for the top 15 greenhouse gas producing nations, including the U.S., to set a goal for reducing the pollution by the end of 2008.

HOT TOPIC: The announcement could deflect criticism during next week's summit of leading industrialized nations, where global warming is sure to be discussed.

CLEARING THE AIR: The countries would begin talks this fall, but each would be able to develop its own strategy.

Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

"We rightly criticize that in most Islamic states, the role of religion for society and the character of the rule of law are not clearly separated," Schroeder wrote. "But we fail to recognize that in the USA, the Christian fundamentalists and their interpretation of the Bible have similar tendencies."

That's a strong - albeit accurate in my opinion - statement. This should be an interesting read.

I wonder then what his take on the CDU/CSU (Christliche Demokratische/Soziale Union) is? Not that it's overrun by fundamentalists (practically unheard of in Germany) but its roots are clearly grounded on Christian values and their confluence with politics.

It must be that occasional "Gottesklatsch" Bush reportedly has that got him uneasy.

So, the smart people are starting to let others know that they spotted Bush as a fake, if not a nut case, long ago.

Schroeder has been married four times and lies about dyeing his hair (even going so far as to sue reporters for libel about it! touchy, touchy...).

You don't go to Gerhard for good judgment or honesty.

Ex-Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder, whose second term was marked by vehement opposition to the war in Iraq, described in an advance copy of his memoirs how he was suspicious of President Bush's constant references to his Christian faith.

Are you kidding me? So he's been married a few times, and he dyes his hair. Obviously his political opinion is worthless!

Why is your first reaction to smear?

At least he hasn't lied to his whole Nation and own citizenry so that he and his neocon followers could get their War of choice. A war that we now clearly can see, has done wonders to their money grabbing nature. I can never halt to wonder what it is that must happen before all those fundamentally hard core Bush supporters see that their Super power ship" has been sinking for the last five years. It is kind of funny to be sitting outside the stage and being able to look at all those reports coming out of there that keeps up one hilarious pace in contradicting them selves, all the time. Have they really not pulled on the leash to look up and think on how they will be paying back all that money? How does it by the way feel to know that you in at least seven generations will be struggling to turn a combined National and International deficit that peaks up the trillion dollar numbers?

What a way of game they chose to play.
