GAUNTLET THROWN: President Bush called for the top 15 greenhouse gas producing nations, including the U.S., to set a goal for reducing the pollution by the end of 2008.
HOT TOPIC: The announcement could deflect criticism during next week's summit of leading industrialized nations, where global warming is sure to be discussed.
CLEARING THE AIR: The countries would begin talks this fall, but each would be able to develop its own strategy.
Try paying for the war and our budget and see how well the economy does.
Yeah we have borrowed this war, that is why while we continue to be at war, we havent been asked to sacrifice. This mess will be left for another president to lay in our lap. Just remember when a dem becomes president and our taxes skyrocket, it isnt because he is a tax and spend dem, but it is because we have to start to pay for our debt. Cause i dont think we will feel like washing the dishes for china because we cant pay our dinner bill.
Our gdp per capita is $41,000
our debt per capita is $28,000
Our debt is 70% of our gdp, our debt goes up 1.65 billion a month right now, we spend 1/2 trillian a year paying the interest on our debt.. that interest could have went a long way to pay for the war.
Our debt was just 31% of the gdp when reagan was in office. ANd while that is gdp per year and the debt is just debt and i am not fear mongering, but if we continue on the direction we are going eventually the debt will be higher than our ability to pay for it. ANd like a bad debtor, we will work all week just to pay the interest and never touch the principle. ANd then american will truely be owned.
A chart is worth lots of words. I have this one printed out on my cube wall... everyone stops by to look at it in disbelief. But the numbers are directly from http://whitehouse.gov .
