Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Once you sign the release, you are no longer "duped".

a generic release form usually does not include specifics on how your likeness can be used, and with a cover story of being from a foreign country, its easily understood how they can be duped.

Yeah, unless you do something crazy like *read* what you're signing.

The release was presented under false pretenses, they are right to take action against him.

But they won't win. If you don't read things like that, the courts tend not to take pity on you. I can't believe anyone would sign a release for a film of any sort without reading it.

After seeing the movie over the weekend (I've been a fan for ages), I'd have to say it was worth it. Cohen'll lose some money graciously to them, and it'll quiet down again.

That was one of the things I noticed about the movie (which, I'm almost embarrassed to say I saw, because it was so painfully crude). All the scenes looked like they were filmed with unsuspecting people. And it now turns out they really were. Fascinating!

Maybe I'll rob a bank. When I get arrested I'll blame the bank for taking advantage of my greedy character flaw.

Damn those banks! They duped me by giving me money!

you can't be "duped" into being a racist, you can only be tricked into revealing it.

The problem is that "Borat" lied to these people to get them to sign the release forms. "Eastern European television reporter coming to Natchez to film social customs in the South," at one point, in case you didn't read the article.
By the way, it mentions that Cohen "showed her nude photos of his son"
Last I checked, taking and/or distributing child pornography is a serious crime in the United States.

That scene is in the film. It's not a child.

or his son for that matter (sorry for the double post and misread). The article didn't really specify that the nude images where of a child - just his son.

Cohen's behavior also wasn't funny to former TV producer Dharma Arthur, who claims she was duped into giving Cohen airtime on a morning show segment in Jackson, Miss. Cohen's live appearance, in which he said he had to go "urine" and hugged a bemused weatherman, led her life into a downward spiral, she told the AP. She is seeking an apology.

Oh come on, I expect my media outlet to do a bit more investigation of their sources before letting them on the air. I mean seriously if you googled 'Borat' anytime in the last 3 or 4 years it would have been obvious, find out a bit, ask for some credentials, in other words do your job. The media today doesn't seem to question anything, so-and-so said such-and-such so golly it must be true. If a media outled was duped by him and is waiver, I have some beachfront property I want to talk to them about.

Did anyone ever go this nuts over Candid Camera?

"When it's least expected, you're elected, you're the start today! Smile! You're on Candid Camera." (Actual Candid Camera jingle.) After the joke was revealed everyone would laugh.

So why aren't THESE people laughing? Because they've been caught with their pants down during their 15 minutes of fame. Borat was able to bring out the side of their personality they didn't want anyone to see.

BORAT isn't a comedy so much as a portrait of contemporary American thinking. The nude wrestling scene was just added to guarantee that he'd also get a gay audience.
