Well this is just strike 3 for me.
Sony, you suck.
And how many XBox games didn't work when the 360 launched... I believe it to be most of the games.
The number of titles affected is minute in comparison when you take into account the magnitude of PSX and PS2 titles available. Remember also that patches can add compatability for the rest of these unsupported games.
Wow.... I see Nintendo and Microsoft doing very well this holiday season.
Well, except for the Zune. I hear initial sales are looking pretty grim.
First the 360, and now this. Has "backwards compatible" come to take on a new meaning thanks to Sony and MS?
To be fair (and no, I'm not a PS3 fanboy, particularly since I'm waiting to see if I'm lucky now in the EB/GS lottery), the number based on fans is about 250 some games with problems. Out of a 8000 game library, that's not that bad. Plus, these potentially can be fixed by firmware upgrades, so it's not all said and done yet.
Mind you, the Wii is supposedly 100% backwards compat, while on the other hand, the 360 is still achingly slow to get backwards compatibility for older games in there.
I will have to agree with you on the PS3 issues. There are still nearly 8000 games that are backwards compatible as opposed to the 360 - which is in the hundreds. Also, the PS3 runs Linux which allows it to be backwards compatible with Sega and Nintendo systems up to the N64 [at least] via emulation.
The Wii is most definitely not 100% backwards compatible. While it may be with the GameCube - previous systems will require purchases from the Virtual Console. The Virtual Console selection will be quite limited.
