Bush's Daughter Robbed in Argentina

advertisement

GAUNTLET THROWN: President Bush called for the top 15 greenhouse gas producing nations, including the U.S., to set a goal for reducing the pollution by the end of 2008.

HOT TOPIC: The announcement could deflect criticism during next week's summit of leading industrialized nations, where global warming is sure to be discussed.

CLEARING THE AIR: The countries would begin talks this fall, but each would be able to develop its own strategy.

This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I'm mildly concerned that this may be a ploy so Bush can start another war, who knows, he might even fail to get UN approval and invade anyway. Not much oil in Argentina but plenty of beef.

They need to assign a secret service agent to watch the twins' legs since the purse was stolen from underneath the table. The thieves were looking at them.

One can imagine that it is tough to be the President and the father of two young ladies. I'm sure he would just as soon have them under lock and key 24 hours a day, but like all young ladies, they would be having none of that.

Criminal minds are always thinking up new ways to commit criminal acts, it's hard to keep up with them. I wouldn't want to be the secret service crew who flubbed this one up.

Not to be nit picky - but I believe this is a pickpocket and not a robbery. It is only considered a robbery if there is violence or some sort of intimidation involved, but from the article it sounds like they just stole the purse without them knowing.

Robbery is the crime of seizing property through violence or intimidation. A perpetrator of a robbery is a robber. Because violence is an ingredient of most robberies, they sometimes result in the harm or murder of their victims. Robbery is generally an urban crime.

      Seems you're right.

Pickpocketing is a crime, a form of larceny which involves the stealing of money and valuables off the person of a victim without them noticing.

If we are being pedantic here...

I think that we are dealing with a theft here. Pickpocketing would require the items being stolen to be on the victim. The purse was under the table, not on the victim.

How do any of these comments make anyone smarter? They lower the quality of this site when people make fun of others who have been robbed. How would you feel if your mother was robbed and all anyone did was make fun of the incident?

I'm not saying this because she's a Bush, but because she's no less/more human than any of us, and you all are making fun of the incident ONLY because you have differences with the girls father. That, is why this kind of thread irritates me.

Honestly, we've had private industry involved in wartimes since the Civil War, it's only brought up or bad somehow when Bush allows it. God forbid we let a more effecient, cheaper solution do things the government does both expensively, and less effecient.
