Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

You know, I'm just about as true-blue a Democrat as they come. I've been card-carrying since I was 20 (10 years now). I live in Texas, and had the pleasure of voting against Bush 3 times. But, damn, Cynthia McKinney is one Democrat I'm glad won't be back.

Should I have said "boyfriend" instead? Oh wait, I'm not gay. Because you're so quick to judge, perhaps you didn't see the relation between a personal experience of mine and the related story above... spinning a statement to throw a red flag is hardly a respected skill so don't use it on me.

Adam, you're right, she's a nutcase, and most people know it. But the way I see it, she's got more balls than any other member of the Democratic Party. While I don't think this is very productive, nor do I think it will get very far, I do believe her courage and convictions to stand up for principle is the very thing the weak-willed, do-nothing, Pu**ycrats need.

While a politician having balls every now and then is nice, and we need that more from both parties, I'd rather a politician have a brain than balls any day. McKinney has shown multiple times that she is lacking in that brain portion. At least with just a brain, you do nothing; but with just balls, you'll screw things up even more.

Considering that most Americans don't realize that Congress exists at all, I very well doubt that it will go down in history at all. However, there are quite a few Congresses that have shown far less balls and brains throughout the 225+ year history of the united states. The Congress of 1993 and 1994 comes to mind right away.

i really think it was the combination and selection of his words and the use of "congresswoman" seemed pretty misogynistic. "worthless excuse of a congresswoman" "worthless excuse of a woman." the word "woman" is more charged than person or man because as a group they have been repressed and discrimated against, just as black people and homosexuals.

True, but my point is I see just as hateful speech brought for Bush or any other conservative and this is applauded here by many all I ask is that we have the same ideas of what is right or wrong on both sides of the fence.

My question to you is this. I want an honest answer, had this remark been made about lets say Condileeza Rice would he still get the same treatment or would those who reported it as inflammatory cheer him. Think about that please. I am not saying you are wrong necessarily, but I do think there is a double standard being brought into play.

its not as bad as sayng "you worthless excuse of a congresswoman"

if you said "worthless excuse of a secretary-of-state-woman" it would be.....

      why ?

because if you say "worthless excuse of secretary pf state" it only implies they are worthless at their job.

if you say "worthless excuse of a congresswoman" the 'woman' tag insults their being, not just their job.

I do not know this woman. I don't know anything about her past other than what I have read in the media. I did read her speech about her support of the withdrawal of our troops. Are we all using this woman's character flaws and personality quirks to ignore what she is saying? She may be a "nutcase" or a "crackpot" or any other label you would like to place on her to justify looking at her instead of her message. She is right in what she is saying about the war and this administration. You can disagree with her, but you simply cannot disagree with her message.

This fact should not get lost under any circumstances. I wish her well in whatever she sets her hand to do in the future. May God Bless her and may Heaven smile upon her for having the courage and the will to stand up and speak out against the crimes that are being perpetrated against our troops, the Iraqi's and the American people. Oh and one last question. What did the Iraqi people or government have to do with 911 again?

It's because actions speak far louder than words. Anyone can hire a good speech writer, but her history of actions speak far louder than lame duck words.

I think I'm going to be sick. This leftest love fest is unbelievable, words have meaning people. You can not be thinking Ms. McKinney is a real patriot to the Constitution. She would rather see this country, her country, and yours fail then win, she is a prim examples of a true hate America first politician that will do anything, say anything and go any where to show solidarity with the leftest of the world. No lie was or is to vile for her to speak. The voters of Georgia were very smart to get rid of her. I'm just hoping that they have a long memory and don't vote her back in, in 2008

I am deeply disturbed by the notion that "this legislation has no chance of passing." Not only is Bush guilty of the violations of misleading Congress on the war in Iraq and violating privacy laws with his domestic spying program, he is guilty of crimes against humanity. He should be impeached and tried as a war criminal by the United Nations.

It is utterly appalling to consider that Bush and his "Billionaire Boys Club" should be allowed to strut around snubbing the law while raking in billions at the expense of the lives of innocent people. These evil people need to be held accountable for their crimes. It sickens me to imagine corruption and arrogance of this magnitude. STOP BUSH NOW!!!

Not only is Bush guilty of the violations of misleading Congress

In order for Bush to have mislead Congress, he would have had to be in a position to lead them. Are you the claiming that Congress has no responsibility to independently verify what the President tells them? Congressmen on the Intelligence Committee as well as others have the exact same security clearance as President Bush. They have access to the exact same raw data as well as analyzed data as President Bush. Should they not be held responsible for maybe conducting their own research?

Remember to prove that he "mislead" Congress, you need to not only prove that what he said was wrong, but that Congress only goes by what he said and conducted none of their own research, and that what he said was wrong he knew was wrong at the time he said it. A lie is not just telling something false, but knowing telling something false. Do you have any proof that President Bush purposefully gave false information that he knew was false when he gave it? And again, would Congress have any responsibility to independently verify that data?

and violating privacy laws with his domestic spying program

The most recent appeals court ruling found that the program was fine for now.

If this woman and all the other politicians would put as much effort and exuberance in coming up with good suggestions on how to handle the illegal immigration situation, solve high medical insurance costs, ways to make sure social security is around for everyone and the many other challenges that face our country today as they do in doing something as stupid and mindless as impeaching President Bush our country would be so much better off. It is obvious they have nothing on the table that is news worthy or valuable so they start with idiotic nonsense such as this. If Bill Clinton didn't get impeached for playing Monica, doubt they will find enough on President Bush. Face it Cindy, you are out of here so get real and go out with grace.

The bittersweet world of politics! It is easy to fly high on the adrenalin of an election, but to win and use one's influence to belittle President Bush was beneath the dignity of an elected representative that was elected to mirror the sentiments of ALL her constituents! Blacks need to join the rest of the nation instead of trying to re-cut the fabric and fashion an ill-fitting suit that only they can wear.

Contributor tmjcookie has it right: Ms. Mckinney may be erratic to a fault, but that does nothing to invalidate her message that G W Bush has systematically violated his oath to preserve, protect and defend the Constitution. Although we have yet to see the full horror that will result from Bush's destabilization of Iraq and region, perhaps his greatest insult to our democracy is the possibility that future presidents will look back at his constitutional violations as precedent for crimes that they might contemplate. The only way both to preserve and defend the Constitution is to hold G W Bush accountable for undermining it, by impeaching him for his various "high crimes and misdemeanors" and removing him from office. This would have the additional benefit of cleansing US society and politics of the tremendous filth that Bush gave us by taking us to war without honest cause, and would also serve to resurrect our country in the eyes of the 95+% of humanity with whom we share the planet. As has been said, "when Clinton lied nobody died." Bush's lies and ignorance have killed hundreds of thousands. If Clinton merited impeachment, then Bush merits impeachment, removal from office, criminal prosecution and life in prison.
