Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Glad to see cops' sons don't get preferential treatment and are instead treated like all the others arrested in the United State's War On Drugs. I mean, it was only 400 pounds of this horrible gateway drug called marijuana; surely the kid will realize the error of his ways and become a nice, productive member of society. Besides, I'm sure his jail cell can be occupied by a real criminal in the War On Drugs who purchased a far lesser amount (and had no relations to law enforcement). Kudos to the judge for having the foresight to see this!

I'm sure that his not being "brown" didn't have ANYTHING to do with it either. Nope. We live in a fair and just society.

J.K you Friggin idiot. Unless you went looking for a picture.. you would have no way of knowing the race of this indivual. YOU are a @!$%#ing moron. YOU probably complain about how racism isn't going away.. No wonder its not YOU won't let go.. Did you notice the report did not say "Sean Timoney, 26, a caucasion,"

I think it had more to do with his daddy being a police officer.. J.K Stop the hate.. let go of your hate.. Get help.. you really really need it. You racist @!$%#.

Before you start calling people idiot, do your homework. By which I mean, a google image search for "John Timoney," his father. He's plenty white alright.

Also, there's plenty of evidence of black folks being punished far more severely than white folks for victimless drug crimes. Racism may not be rampant elsewhere, but without racism, it's hard to explain the number of black folks jailed due to drug possession, when drug use levels are consistent across such populations.

You're probably right though, that his dear old dad's job had more to do with the light sentencing. Cops have a way of "protecting their own" which can quite easily border on corruption.

Whitey, I'm not sure if these unfounded and meaningless outbursts of yours are a byproduct of not enough drugs or a little too much but either way please recognise your ignorance is a warning to us all.
If you could simply increase your medication or self medication to the point where your pillow is as stimulating as you obviously find Newsvine to be, then we'd all be extremely grateful.

    Don't go changing.

Soo.. speaking of ignorance... as I said " unless you went looking for a picture"... Doing a google image search constitutes looking for a picture.. Stupidity must be rampant where your from as well. sigh.. Ignorance is not a bad thing... those who are ignorant can be taught... Stupid ppl however cannot be..

And my point .. while racism surely still exists.. its mostly perpetuated by the individual race.. just not letting go.. or trying to perpetuate the labels there given... its not cool.. the only thing that is cool.. is trying to improve yourself whatever you may be..

And lets face it.. This war on drugs.. is clearly not working.. if 400lbs of marijuana wasn't worth mucho $$$ then it wouldn't be so prevalent.. sigh.. we should not not interfere with natural selection so frequently...

Hopefully that the reduced sentence is not because he is the son of a respected high ranking officer, and that it may be that people are finally coming to the conclusion that marijuana laws are way to harsh for such a harmless substance as well as it being a non-violent crime, I feel that 18 months is still a tab bit harsh but I guess he deserves it for his stupidity of trying to purchase 400 pounds at one time, that's not suspicious at the least bit...

Whitey you are a "Friggin idiot". Here's a picture of his dad:
You can find his dads picture online. Looks white to me. The more relevant point is that blacks and the wealthy do get preferential treatment as demonstrated many studies. Type: prison sentencing study into gogle and take your pick. If you can read words with more than two syllables you should try so read these studies. Ironically, you seem to have a lot of hate, based on your comments. Maybe you should "let go of your hate" and "Get help". Until then why don't you hide under your little bridge you troll.

You must have self hate, since you say you hate stupid people

I wonder how he'll fare in prison when gen pop finds out he's the son of Miami's police chief.

                    400 pounds of marijuana

                    Medicinal use?

does he know how big 400lbs is? It's like heavier than a Sumo Wrestler.

With 400 lbs of pot, he could run his own little mini-cartel for a few weeks.

And self medicating because he had Lyme disease? That's pitiful. Lyme disease symptoms, fever, headaches, aching bones and muscles, really debilitating. Cure, one month course of antibiotics.
The symptoms go away in one or two days.
Self medicating with 400 pounds? Was he going to use the bale to distract Tics?
