Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I completely understand what schizophrenia is, we like to call my previous comment a "joke". Now I know it's not really that funny, but I'm working on that.

no. she just has a stage alter ego.

A person experiencing schizophrenia is typically characterized as demonstrating disorganized thinking, and as experiencing delusions or auditory hallucinations.

... you're both completely wrong. Sounds like classic DID. Dissociative Identity Disorder. Formerly known as multiple personality disorder. This quote cements it:

"I created my stage persona to protect myself," she says, "so that when I go home, I don't have to think about what it is I do."

Typically an alter will surface to protect the host from having to deal with whatever it is the host can't stand to go through... Protector alters are quite common. Think of a child who's abused by a parent... the child can't emotionally take it, so they "go away in their head" and let the alter take over and deal with it.

sorry... to clarify, I re-read Pat's comment (#2) and you're talking about basically the same thing. I saw the link to the wiki article and assumed you were providing an alternate theory.

Anyone ever hear of Ziggy Stardust?

Bowie created the Ziggy character because he (Bowie) had crippling stage fright. He was at the point where he couldn't perform anymore. By changing his appearance, creating a backstory, etc., he was able to go out on stage without fear.

June Carter always claimed that Jonny had two personalities, John, whom she loved, and his arrogant stage persona, Cash, whom she couldn't stand. It was Cash that got him in so much trouble over the years.
