— In an episode of Survivor full of discussion and possible back-stabbing, the end result was predictable. Parvati Shallow, the second to last Raro tribe member alive, was booted off the island by a vote of 4-2. This was despite her massive efforts to sway Ozzy into a three-way alliance with her and Adam. Parvati's notoriously flirty ways may have gotten her close to turning Ozzy, but, in the end, her efforts proved fruitless.
This was a disappointing episode for me, mostly because of the end result. I liked Parvati, and thought she was a very solid, self-aware, and strategically oriented player. She, like Nate and Candice before her, lost power and was booted because of Jonathan's weaselly ways. She really played the best game she could. With the finale on Sunday, it's really impossible to know what to expect. The five competitors left all have a distinct chance at winning. The four-pronged alliance will shatter, it has to, and one faction will have to turn on the other. Jeff Probst, in a recent interview, described the final immunity challenge as "the most difficult in Survivor history". If that's not enough to get a Survivor fan excited, I don't know what is.
