I've never met anyone who watches Arena League Football.
It's quite fun to watch on TV and a live game is even more fun.
Congrats you just met someone.
bmvaughn. indietroy. - indietroy. bmvaughn.
Me and my father always meant to go to one when we lived near Nassau Coliseum. The Dragons were good too, we just never got to it. I've actually known one person who was a die hard AFL fan. It's very strange to be a big fan of it, IMO, since it's essentialy minor league football with boards.
damn, I thought this might be Aussie Rules. Oh well!
Now that would be cool.
No doubt! Though it is all I can get, the delayed coverage I get locally in VA on MHZ TV is good, but pales in comaprison to what I would hope ESPN could provide.
that espn blew off the NHL and is now in bed with the AFL is a curious situation. i guess this means we're going to see even more crappy AFL "highlights" on sportscenter.
snooze. it's bad enough, the imbalance of coverage between the NHL and the NBA during the spring. this should make things even worse. yay.
Well, as a hockey fan I'd love to say it's totally ESPN's fault, but it's really not. It isn't that ESPN said that they straight out refused to pay for NHL rights, it's just that the two parties were so far apart that it couldn't be done. Blame Bettman for not realizing that even giving NHL rights to ESPN for FREE would've been better than going to OLN, because the publicity that ESPN brings to the sport has always been great, as was it's coverage on ESPN when it was shown. Just imagine, if the NHL had commercials on ESPN last year and ESPN pushed it, the sport would be back on its way to catching Basketball. Point is, don't blame ESPN, blame that moron Bettman who, since taking over, has taken a sport that was on pace to overtake Basketball and made it into a niche sport that can hardly be considered major.
Either way, I'm sure ESPN paid next to nothing for this. The AFL probably realizes the great publicity this will bring to their league.

you're absolutely right. i do blame bettman 100% and agree with you on his tenure. i'm just pissed that this will be another chunk taken from NHL coverage.
