Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

This drove me crazy! Santa gave both of my kids iTunes gift cards (partly hoping he'd be able to siphon off a couple of tunes from the credit load without them noticing), and they've been standing behind my chair for two days begging me to try again.

Good thing I haven't used my gift card yet. This will be my first foray into the ITMS and I plan to put a great deal of thought into the tidbits I'm going to buy. An interesting little conundrum, this is. What ,usic is worth paying for to me, but not worth actually going out and physically buying?

I was able to get through earlier this afternoon, Eric.

There is some music for which I insist on buying the CD, as I enjoy the liner notes, the better quality, etc. But as far as some popular music, maybe a song that I can't get out of my head and then won't ever want to hear again after a few weeks, I'd rather spend the 99 cents than buy a whole album.

I'm too paranoid to download music "illegally."

Yep, it took me awhile to setup an account for my daughter and enter 2 iTunes gift cards. No errors, but had to wait upwards of 5 minutes for a click to go through. All in all it wasn't that bad considering.

Usually, it takes all of five seconds for me to register gift cards and download a song or two. I tell ya, this whole internets thing is just not what it's cracked up to be!

      ;)

Of course, I went to Crate and Barrel yesterday (because, yes, I am INSANE), thinking, seriously, "they won't be that busy! There'll be a long returns line but I'm not RETURNING! I'm EXCHANGING!" I neglected to consider the legions of other INSANE people who were there to buy every goldang Christmas decoration available for 70% off. I waited in line for an hour. I would have turned home, but I had just forced my children to carry in heavy boxes filled with 8 new place settings that I didn't like. I wasn't about to tempt fate and try to carry them out again and then come back in a few days.

Now, if I had been smart, I would have returned the whole mess via UPS, and had the new dishes sent to me the same way.

I guess sitting on my ass and repeatedly hitting the "redeem giftcard" link wasn't such a bad thing after all.

      ;)
