WHAT'S THE GREEN ZONE? Also called the International Zone, it's the heavily protected area in central Baghdad that holds the U.S. and British embassies, the Iraqi parliament and prime minister's office.
OPEN TO ATTACK: A U.N. report in June said insurgents had bombarded the area with rockets and mortar fire more than 80 times since March.
CASUALTIES: Nearly 30 people have been reportedly killed in the barrages.
Let me check something...
...yep. The body is still warm. Thank you, AP.
at least they didnt use one of his many pictures tripping over something.
Well, though we get it here through the AP it's originally a Washington Post story and it seems, from the links provided, that it's also been picked up by CBS News so it's not really fair to single out the AP here.
The overall point is that the body is still warm. Thank you AP, Washington Post, whatever mass media organization.
Would it be that hard to hold off a couple of more hours until, you know, he's out of rigor?
Eh. Kind of a wash. Yeah, Don Rumsfeld's old boss says the war was a mistake, but Ford was hardly known for his foreign policy chops.
but Ford was hardly known for his foreign policy chops.
True enough. But then he did have the good sense to not start a civil war in the middle east.....
But then he did have the good sense to not start a civil war in the middle east..
How about I just save everyone the trouble, and cut to the chase: "Yeah, but he didn't have to respond to 9/11." (Come on, you know someone would have brought it up sooner or later.)
"Yeah, but he didn't have to respond to 9/11."
So, the response to 9/11 is to attack and occupy a nation (and yes, bungle the job to the point that it's now a raging civil war and our leaders are unsure how to proceed) that had absolutely nothing to do with 9/11? I think I prefer Ford's foreign diplomacy style...

If we're going by recent history, I'd have to say yes.
This is news?
Yes. Did you notice the fact that the interview was embargoed until after his death and that it was secret until now?
Perhaps you could explain why you dont think its news for a past Republican President to criticize a sitting Republican President. Some pundits are now going so far as to claim that Ford and GW were a lot alike.
Sorry, but it was said in an interview that wouldn't be public till after his death. Seems to me that he didn't want it to come out while he was alive. Guess he didn't feel that strongly about it.
You ask me if I think it was news. I think I answered that question before it was asked. Let me make it 'catch22' clear for you. I do NOT think this is news
Good thing you are not the arbiter of what is and isnt news. Note: I clearly did not ask you whether you thought it was news. I did ask for you to explain your rationale on why you did not believe it was news. Try reading. Everyone has an opinion, and believe it or not, people are not standing by breathlessly waiting to hear yours. I really dont care whether you think it is news nor does probably anybody else. If you have something constructive to add as to why you think it isnt feel free, but dont pretend people care what your opinion is.
Talk about pretending...
"All that is necessary for the forces of evil to take root in the world is for enough good men to do nothing."
Not sure of the correct wording, but it applies. Thanks, Gerrie, be it ever so belated.
