Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Large corporations will always be navigating multiple lawsuits at any given time, its the nature of the nation we live in. But I think Apple will keep on the upturn. They have invented some great technologies and I doubt that anything will be able to keep the range of innovation they have from continuing - even if one or two products have to be altered to avoid lawsuits.

Only Apple will be able to (and is currently) prevent(ing) innovations from Apple. Because DRM, short for Digital Rights Management (though it is more accurately described as "Digital restrictions Management") locks down the music people buy to specific hardware and software, Apple could just stop innovating and continue to take in millions, because many people have bought digitally restricted music that will only work on the ipod. Yes, Zune and the "Plays for Sure" DRM systems are even more Draconian than Apple's, but that does not justify Apple's actions. DRM should be outlawed because it removes all the benefits of capitalism: competition through customers choosing the best product; when customers loose the ability to choose, innovation will cease to exist. A great group that opposes DRM is Defective By Design; find it at defectivebydesign.org

Of all DRM models, Apple's in the most customer friendly. It can be defeated completely within iTunes by burning and re-ripping the song (not that you would really want to do that).

Microsoft cannot even be consistent with its DRM. The spent the last two or three years selling us on the "Plays for Sure" technology. Then, they get in the game and abandon it in favor of a new proprietary system. Nice.

Apple has had countless lawsuits over the last year, and years before that. Does it stop them from making great products? No. They've always risen above the challenge and pressed on. I have no doubt in my mind that this will only continue.

Doesn't the Zune use similar protections? Besides, there are numerous ways to strip the DRM off of music purchased in the iTunes store. (Once the DRM is stripped out, you can play the songs on any player/computer you want. FYI for those that don't know what DRM is, Wikipedia has the answers.)
