Hillary Clinton 'In to Win' White House

I'm still a firm believer in the "we can't predict anything or call anyone a frontrunner this far out" theory.

Go Hillary! You can pull off!

Interesting to see the field shaping up and really starting to take form on the Democrat's side. The Republican's seem to be moving very slowly in comparison.

whitewater, cattle futures, billing records, covering for bill, hillarycare, vince foster, sandy berger, war votes ... the lady has a lot of heavy baggage to explain away.

Why do people focus on the fact that Hillary Clinton is a female, and Obama is black? Focus on what they say they will do, and not their race and gender, for those will be irrelevant to the running of the country if they are elected.

Great, let the party begin. Or the brawl.

Okay... the question for Dems is... which of them will swing the key central or southern states to them?

Hilary will certainly pull in the states Kerry held. What others will she bring?

It's a question to ask of Obama or Edwards too.

I think there's the makings of a strong Dem ticket amongst the initial runners, but it will be interesting to see what it is. Hilary will have to be the Presidential candidate, I can see either of the other two going for VP if it came to it, but I can't see Hilary taking it.

I bet it'll end up Hilary and Edwards with Obama getting a key Cabinet position promise. Edwards is a known and strong performer who'll bring heartland Dems in and the South.

She'll never make it through the primaries.

Clinton is considered the front-runner, with Obama and 2004 vice presidential nominee John Edwards top contenders.

Of the three, the one I would actually consider voting for is Edwards. Obama only if the republicans put a madman up for nomination*.

* I so set someone up for a witty jab at republicans.

In an attempt to give an international perspective on this, I can tell you that nothing would be better for the image of the US in my country than electing a woman president, especially one with such an ability to rally support for unity and bridge gaps between democrats and moderate republicans, who feel as if Bush has drawn them into something they don't really believe in anymore.

I think Americans sometimes think they are the only ones who care what their president does, but it affects partnering nations like mine, who can't of course vote for leaders of a foreign country, sometimes far greater than it effects residents in states which have powerful state governance, which balance out and occasionally rival the control of the federal government.

We don't have that balance here, we just get the American president we're given and don't really have much choice over what he, or now she does and says. That's why it's much easier for us to live under a democratic party president - because historically they listen more to international advise on world affairs than republicans do. And giving opinions on everything and anything, even if it doesn't concern us, is a particular speciality of the British.

I voted for George Bush, but I would never make that mistake again. So far his misjudgments have caused much unhappiness in (Iraq, Afghanistan & America), if another country did what he did, we would want them tried for war crimes.

Gahhhhhhh! I consider myself Libertarian, and will likely vote along those lines in '08. But I'm fed up with the administration of the past 7 years as well. I just don't get this. The Dems have a cakewalk to win the Presidency in 2008 - all they have to do is screw it up. And what are they going to do? Put a woman or Black/Arab as the nomination? I hate Hillary Clinton, and would never vote for her. Seriously, the Dems will lose unless they find a mainstream candidate. Try the minority ticket after another 4 years....2008 needs to just stop the momentum the country is heading with. There's tons of people unhappy with the Republican administration of the past 7 years, but there's plenty more who would never vote for a woman OR a black man for President, at least not now.

Unless I'm mistaken, Howard Dean did not become the Democratic Nominee in 2004 despite his early perceived lead?! She thusly has a fight on her hands, regardless of the high staus in the party...

A lot of people think this country is beginning to look like a monarchy and despite weather or not you agree, a lot of people dont want to continue the legacy of bush/clinton. It is bad enough that so called freedom means we have the choice between 2 people out of 300 million to elect to run the most powerful country on the planet but it is even worse to only choose out of two families rather than two parties.

She really should stay in the senate and run next time... but we need a break from the family power crap.

I have a 2008 Presidential straw poll (Rs and Ds) on my blog at About.com, if anyone is interested.

I dislike Hillary for a number of political reasons, but the disagreeable aspect of her candidacy that trumps all others is the unsettled feeling I experience whenever I see her face on the television. I realize that aesthetics is a sorry and shallow basis on which to elect a president, but I feel that the sour , lemon-sucking expression inevitably perched on her age worn face might promote a subconscious animosity in our neighboring nations. Say what you like about George W. He was always amusing to watch on TV. But with Hillary it would be a chore, one that I don't feel up to for four years.

For almost every cheer, there was a shouted "Go home, Hillary!" and the emerging Republican theme that carpetbagger Clinton simply wanted to use New York as a launching pad for a later presidential run.

Lately it seems to me that the Republican party isn't getting very much right. However, they would appear to have hit this nail right on the head.

Does anybody know how Hillary polls among women? African-Americans lean to Hillary over Obama in polls, and I recall a poll that showed women prefer her by a wide margin. Anybody find data?

BTW, if Hillary does win, count on Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., to replace her in the US Senate. Dynasty?
