its a great idea, another site, called is doing this with bloggers.
It's also an idea that is a reply to immediate competition, not only broader web 2.0 context. One of the biggest video sharing sites, Metacafe at http://www.metacafe.com/ has already started sharing revenue with users for successful user-generated content. If your video shot reaches a page view over 20.000, you will start getting money. Plus, it is very much in line with Google's AdSense program where you as a content owner are rewarded for contributing to the continuous content redistribution.

Interesting for a site that doesn't even have revenue.
Ad revenue
This would mean that they'd have to be even stricter about piracy issues. They don't want to pay random people who post TV shows on youtube. Most of the traffic on Youtube is due to those types of videos.
That's exactly what I was thinking. How are they going to separate people who post copyrighted work from those who post original material. Of course to pay you they'll need some sort of personal info so maybe they'll report those who post copyrighted content.
As I'm thinking about this this is going to be a huge problem. Most videos use copyrighted music at the very least. So then the RIAA is going to have a problem because none of those people have permission to use their works.
Revver is already doing this. Granted, YouTube has a heck of a lot more traffic...
Maybe they will integrate adsense and adwords into the videos...maybe they will share revenues with companies that program on their API...products like NewsBliss or Test Tube.
What an amazing idea! Someone should do this with a news site!
I knew uploading all of those tv "clips" would be worthwhile.
You can't make any money with Google AdSense or Amazon Affiliate and you won't be able to make any money with this. It will just encourage more people to cheat by using auto-refreshers to increase their views.
