Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

Mr. Baldwin, do us all a favor by living down to your "threat" to move to France, and, once there, please do help a French soldier, if you can find one. And AP, could you be just a little more creative orally gratifying the Dems? There are still a few here at Newsvine that can't tell one blowjob from the last.

Tell me, is it guilt or jealousy?

    Mr Baldwin,

Good for you. When your heart moves, so should you. As to the nihilist commenter above, try being part of the solution. Existentialism is a dead end!

    Mr. Baldwin,
I too would like to see you honor your pledge to move out of the United States after the Dems failed to gain the Presidency. I think instead of France (although you do have the same arrogant attitude) you should try a Middle Eastern country so you can be closer to your soulmates, the Islamic terrorists. Your pathetic sudden compassion for a soldiers plight reeks of your failing box office reciepts. Let me know if I can help you with the plane ticket.
    Your Friend

Baldwin, who appeared in "Glengarry Glen Ross" and "The Departed" and most recently won a Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild award for his performance in the weekly NBC comedy "30 Rock,"

      Huh?

Also, I can appreciate that you don't like Alec Baldwin or his stance on the war but seriously, would you rather he not have put in this money so the woman could go to college?

Why is it that people think they are portraying themselves as smart, when they talk about existentialism? It's like people that use the word lavatory, speaking of @!$%#, we all know Alec opened up the paper saw some heart strings and started pulling on something. Then the whole time, while he was "tracking" her down, he was just reassuring himself over and over that "yes, I am a great person", and "everyone should be as kind, helpful and unselfish as I am." It's called being Paris Hilton, we've seen it before.

So you think that this doesn't mean anything because he's a Democrat? I'm sure the woman whose education he's funding disagrees.

I don't really care about political allegiance or, to a certain extent, underlying motives. He's helping someone who has fewer financial resources pay for college. I would be just as happy for the young woman if Rush Limbaugh had done it. It has opened new opportunities to her.

Hey guys, Baldwin put his money where his mouth is. So he didn't move to France like he said he would. Big deal. Bush said he would fire anybody who leaked info on a CIA agent...he has not done so. Perhaps he should be impeached? Bush was a cowardly draft dodger, hasn't he earned your scorn?

Can't take it? Then why don't YOU move to France? And kiss my a** while you're at it.

I don't understand why all the negative talk, Alec is entitled to his belief on the war. I doubt his actions were out of guilt. He is a human being with feelings only thing special about him is he has more money then most ordinary people..... Way to go Alec glad that you felt moved enough help this woman.......

I'm not really familiar with Baldwin's "promise" but if this girl gets a degree in as a BioChemist than cool - I'm glad he could help her. I'd guess, based on her lack of funds and her mom working in a Dollar store that they don't live very high on the hog. This token of generosity may lead her entire family into a better standard of living.

Hate on Baldwin all you want but leave this gesture alone.
