Man Ends 9-Week, 3,272-Mile Amazon Swim
Slovenian Martin Strel is seen at the Brazilian section of the Amazon river, Saturday, April 7, 2007. Slovenian Martin Strel completed his swim of the entire 5,265-kilometer (3,272-mile) Amazon River on Saturday, a 65-day odyssey in which he battled exhaustion and delirium while trying to avoid flesh-eating piranhas and the dreaded bloodsucking toothpick fish. First, all I have to say is that Slovenian has got nothing on me. Just kidding! This is absolutely crazy! I can hardly run two miles and not feel like I'm going to pass out. Not to mention, I hear that swimming takes more endurance. Another question, who has the time to swim 3,272 miles? I barley have time to make it to Wal-Mart on the weekends. Congrats to him and I am most definitely impressed!

"I think the animals have just accepted me," he said. "I've been swimming with them for such a long time that they must think I'm one of them now. I still have dolphins swimming with me."
Thinking like that will get you killed. But im sure the safty boat in front and behind you are large deterants to any animals.
Strel averaged about 50 miles a day since beginning his odyssey at the source of the world's second-longest river in Peru on Feb. 1.
jeez... i think if i could take 2 months off work that farthest thing from my mind would be swimming 50 miles a day for 2 months.
the dreaded toothpick fish, which swims into body orifices to suck blood
