Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

I'm reposting this comment I made to the seed about online fundraising:

Overall, Obama received contributions from more than 100,000 individuals, his campaign said. Clinton received donations from about 50,000 people, while Edwards took in money from about 37,000 donors.

and Obama

raised $6.9 million on the Web, from a total of 50,000 online contributors.

For Clinton,

$4.2 million raised on the internet

came from an unknown number of online contributors. Obama had as many online contributors as Clinton has total contributors. The omission of the number of online donors to Clinton's campaign is suspect, and I believe it's indicative of the big-money thrust of her campaign. Theoretically if Clinton's internet donations were all the maximum, that would be only 1,800 donors. If they all maxed out in primary and general election donations, that would be less than 1,000 online donors. Extreme examples, I know, but her reluctance to tout these numbers probably means they don't show strength.
