Wal-Mart Back on Top of Fortune 500

Wal-Mart Stores Inc., whose customers cut back on shopping when gas prices were high last year, warned that April's selling environment will be tough. The outlook for consumer spending turned hazy Thursday as warnings of weak sales ahead overshadowed better-than-expected March sales at many of the nation's big retailers. (AP Photo/Paul Sakuma)

Now dont get me wrong. I am a full blown capitalist and wouldnt dream of telling ther execs at Wal-Mart how to run their company. But would it really kill them to offer their employees a decent health care plan?

I don't really think they got to the position they're in by showing humanity to others...
So the answer is, of course it wouldn't kill them, but it may force them to give the status back to Exxon, which they won't.
Walmart's goal isn't simply survival... it's continuous expansion, like cancer for instance.

And the other big retailers don't expand....get serious.

Who says they don't? That's exactly how it works when your only responsibility is to continuously up your stock price.
I somehow don't believe we will reach an agreement on this, but rest assured, I'm not so naive as to see Walmart as the only big evil giant. :)
