Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

"In a normal, democratic country the authorities don't obey the interests of these groups, but on the contrary protect people from them,"

Absolutely right - it's appalling. They need to nip this kind of aggression in the bud.

Yes, in a normal, democratic country, authorities should be concentrating on eradicating extremism instead of preventing ordinary citizens from crossing extremists' paths. Unfortunately Russia is a normal, democratic country in name only. And it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon.

This is actually the modus operandi of the police in Denmark too. When Neo-nazis march in Danish cities, the police block the roads and work to keep counter-demonstrators away. Okay, there is the point to it that in Denmark the socialists are well organized, fiercely anti-racist and pretty good fighters. Without the efforts of the police force they would get severely beat up, wherever they showed up in public.

and stage attacks on dark-skinned foreign and other non-Slavic-looking people.

If I remember correctly, Hitler tried to "exterminate" the Slavs. I am Czech and German so this makes me sick to my stomach.

It seems to me that ignoring (or refusing to address) the problem by locking up those who are in danger is just going to allow the problem to grow.

This seems like a prelude to a much larger problem in the future.

I totally agree with "in Flight". Russia's democracy is still a pseudodemocracy.
News like these make me sick. Strange that they hail Hitler. Perhaps they should adhere to Stalin he did a great job in killing people.... 20 mio. even top Hitler's holocaust...
