— The BuddyTV Fan Popularity Rankings often gives us some intriguing insights as to which fans are prevalent on the internet, supporting their favorite show. Some highly-rated TV shows don't have the presence on the internet that you would think, considering their wide viewer-base. That's just the ways things are. There are certain fan bases that are simply more mobilized and fanatical, and these tend to be the shows that receive higher DVD sales and residual profits. Below are the rankings, followed by some commentary.
Lost continues to kick ass, thanks to the loyal fans, our extensive coverage, and the show's consistent high quality of late. The show, creatively, has been gaining a ton of momentum in recent weeks and is now as popular among fans as ever. American Idol has now spent two weeks below Lost, which is something that I hadn't expected to ever happen. But, number two is still pretty good, and it's not like Idol is doing poorly.
America's Next Top Model keeps on trucking away, fans of the show displaying an unabashed loyalty. Fans form diverse opinions on the different models and let those opinions be know on our site. Pussycat Doll Present: Search for the Next Doll keeps surprising me with its popularity, but the show's been a hit. Nothing much else to say.
The Apprentice crack the top five for the week of their season finale. This might be the last time ever, too; there have been rumblings that t he show may be canceled. Dancing with the Stars is another reality show that is slowly becoming an institution. Even without really big names, the ballroom dancing competition is getting a ton of viewers.
The Bachelor still pounds away at the female viewership, and is hanging around as one of the TV's long-running reality franchises. Grey's Anatomy is surprisingly low on this list if you consider how much higher it used to be before its hiatus. Now, even with new episodes, it still lags behind on our rankings.
Prison Break makes a surprise appearance on the list, a couple of weeks after its finale aired. People are still interested, I suppose. 24 ends the top ten, and the show should be higher, but it's disappointing season has turned fans off.
