If you think copyright should be absolute then you don't understand why copyrights were invented.
Unfortunately the DMCA is the trump card. The proper fight is to get the DMCA repealed, which won't happen with the current actions being taken.
The DMCA can be repealed when a lawsuit raises it to the Supreme Court. Certainly Congress won't reverse it. Fighting it in court is the only solution.
Don't hold your breath, there isn't any part of the DMCA that isn't on solid constitutional ground.
