HAHAHA! Pants. Pants. I...can't come up with the words for just how big a douche this guy is.

According to court papers, Pearson added up 12 violations over 1,200 days

I'm curious, where the hell did he get those numbers?

They lost his pants, and now this bastard wants to take them to the cleaners.

What does he want? Just the shirts off their backs.

In all seriousness, though...if I were this a#$@ole's judge in the case, I would award the owners of the cleaners $1 in damages for their trouble, and an additional $64,000,099 in punitive damages against the plaintiff just for making our shared vocation look bad.

a#$@ole.

Worse yet, they found his pants a few days later. Even offered up to $12,000.

The Honorable wasn't so honorable after all. I would say this should be enough to dis-bar him.

Yeah, this guy is pretty much the biggest @!$%# ever. As a judge, he has to realize that this will never hold up in court. I guess he's just doing it to bleed them dry with legal fees. God that's petty.

I recently saw a top 10 list of frivolous lawsuits. I think this one might just top 'em all.

I stopped reading your link after they left out everything regarding the McDonalds lawsuit which made it "not so" frivolous.

Most misrepresented case ever -- and this link perpetuates the myth.

Thanks for pointing that out, Brian. I have to say I'd only heard of it as an example frivolous lawsuit. I checked out a few different sources, but as usual the relevant Wikipedia entry seems to be instructive. Perhaps the others are similarly biased - I haven't looked (yet).

I think I just got smarter.

Well, the other cases may have been less misleading, but as I don't know anything about them -- I didn't want to risk being misinformed. If I hadn't known more about the McD's case, I would have accepted it and moved on, so I'm glad it was listed first. :) I just don't have the time to make sure that the others are accurate.

With that said, this case is absurd.

My guess is that this Judge won't be a Judge for long. Someone above said something about the Justice system not working, and I think that's an awfully uninformed comment to make. Not all cases can be judged (har har) based on the OJ trials and whatever other celebrity justice people read about.

Most Judges aren't like this prick, and usually -- the legal system works just fine.

Here's the judge's bio. I was looking for his contact info so I could explain to him why this is wrong.

is he doing this as some kind of proof of the stupidity of the "justice" system?
he is a judge, that means another judge has not thrown this out of court yet. problem gets 2x bigger

if he wins almost every store will have to either:
go out of business
ban all lawyers

i would choose "ban all lawyers" if enough people did it then the 99.9% of excess lawyers would get a productive job or die.

It should be a requirement for judges and lawyers to only file cases in which they have to hire other lawyers to file and litigate.

Bastards...

This is the same year that the US consumers lost the right to sue pharmaceutical makers for deaths or injuries, even if the FDA approval was based on fraudulent study data. This underscores the insanity of both the system and the Judges.

we have a TV show here in canada where a lawyer comes on and takes calls from citizens. he is supposed to give free advice.
95% of the time his answer is "call a lawyer"

there is a plague of them. they have to become productive rather than destroying society. or else be culled like an unwanted animal in the ecosystem.

The judge needs to drop the suit over the pants. Shame on him for trying to tie up our legal system. I hope the cleaners will sock it to him and shoe him right on out of the courthouse. Someone needs to belt him for being so shirty about his legal briefs.

"a place he patronized regularly despite previous disagreements with the Chungs"

thats a warning right there, i know the type and they arent worth the business, even if you are struggling.

and i cant believe that that they offered to settle for so much money
makes me want to yell at mine (j/k)

and yeah i know you go to court always asking for way more than you will settle for, but as a judge he should know that he a cant multiple the violations per employee, it was a business transaction.
they didnt lose his pants again.
he may actually have a case for one violation and $1500

What more do you want you stupida$$ judge? They offered you up to $12,000 and even buy a suit of your choice. You're are going to sue them because you had to rent a car to drive to a different dry cleaning shop. Come on, common sense and decency has apparently left you. These are immigrants that have been here over seven years so I wouldn't call them immigrants anymore...they are citizens of the United States and this is how you represent our country. What makes this worse is that you're a judge. You should go pick up your pants, apologize to them for putting them through this, pay them all the legal fees they have incurred because of this, and each of the family members get a free pass to kick you in the jimmy.

Oh the poor judge, got his underwear in a knot because the cleaners
lost his pants. I hope the owners of the laundry counter sue the judge
for all the undue stress this stupid lawsuit has caused them! Greed rules

You can't sue someone just because their lawsuit against you caused you stress.

No, but you can sue them for "mental anguish".

And uh... welcome to the party folks, only a month late. ;-)
