What's this?
Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

One of the TLDs that would be really popular and probably make a lot of money, if they would allow it, is ".blog".

That's a great idea, Aine. Has it been proposed?

I don't know, Marilyn. I know a few years ago, I saw that someone was beginning the paperwork for it, but the fees for a new tld in those days exceeded $130K (US)... and if I read the fine print properly in those days, I believe that may be non-refundable. I had explored the possibility myself, and then realized you had to have a lot of capital behind you to do something like that.

I don't know if anyone's tried it for .blog since then.

While I do see what they're trying to do with these industry and region specific TLDs, I doubt whether they will take off for the right reasons. I mean, the domains are already cluttered as they are right now, especially over here in Europe. Next to the many country-level domains, a European travel agency will probably be claiming .com and .eu as well. I don't see adding .travel to that making it any easier.
