Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

If GMail came out of beta - it wouldn't be nearly as popular. It's the first rule of having a hit web 2.0 application - put it in beta :).

I tried to replicate the "I have a dream" search and while "video" was an option - it wasn't integrated into the main search results page.

I feel like the links for "images," etc. being at the top left-hand corner of the page is much more awkward, and less intuitive than in the center like it used to be (at least I think thats where they were before).

I like the new look for Google. Yahoo and Live already look nice, and I think it's about time Google came out of the '90s. Good for them.

It's starting to grow on me. You're right it is much sleeker and up-to-date, but the change is so subtle that the user will notice it - but not to the point where the experience will be effected. It's just a little bit easier on the eyes, and more OS X-like in is white smoothness.

The embossed look is similar to Yahoo!'s main page (which I think looks very good an elegant - and much less cluttered). It's as if Yahoo! and Google have flipped, Google having the more cluttered search results page - and Yahoo! having the more simplistic results. While Google as aways maintaining their simplistic Google homepage and Yahoo! having the embossed elegant cluttered homepage.
