LED's look to be a promising lighting solution, once they get the costs down.

I replaced all my spot lights with LED lights, they cost me about 29/piece, but the saving is huge. I replaced 16, 30W light with 16, 5W LED lights. We have these lights on about 5-8 hours/day that means we save between 16x25x(5-8)= 2kW-3.2kW/day. With normal usage of 350 day/year, it means we save between 700-1120Kwh of electricity. With the average cost of electricity in NY being about 14c/Kwh, we save between $100 to $160/year in electricity bill.

It means that our return of investment will be between 4-7 years, and best of all, we save the environment as well.
