Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

My cable provider keeps trying to raise rates on me every year, and every year they get a call from me telling them that I'll not pay 1 cent more for the exact same service I received last year. They've consistently lowered my bill back to the same rate they charged me when I signed up with them 5 years ago. Of course, to play this card you have to be truly willing to switch cable companies, which is why we use web based e-mail and don't bundle our phone to keep us from being too tied to any one company. But, since my TV was built in 1992, I don't have much use for any digital/hi-def stuff anyway. Maybe it's just me, but everyone I've seen that gets that winds up with a grainy, pixelated picture. No thanks.

I dumped cable about 15 years ago. First, I went to a C-Band Satellite, and now I use the Ku Direct-TV stuff. It is doubtful I will EVER go to cable TV again.

I remember when I called the cable company and told them to shut it off. The asked for the new address where I was moving. I told them I wasn't moving, I just didn't want it anymore. They couldn't believe it; it was like I told them I wasn't going to eat anymore. They didn't think it was possible to live without them.

15 years later, I'm still going strong.
