IANAL, so I ask: Since it is in Fed. Appeals court does this mean they can't appeal any further? Supreme Court?
what do people have flood insurance for if this is the case?
God forbid some of these poor people should be able to get back some meager fraction of the money that these leeches take year after year from them. People should start considering self-insuring -- that is -- putting money into savings accounts to support themselves in times of emergencies. I know, easier said than done and I'd have a tough time doing it, like most people I suspect; but how is paying out year after year and then being denied the only claim you make any better?
I occasionally do work at a local prison. Have had some interesting conversations with some inmates, some of those people are very smart. One guy I talked to a few years ago had made quite a bit of money as a con-artist. I was having some insurance trouble at the time, and he asked me why those guys weren't in jail. He may have conned a dozen or so people out of money, but the fact that an insurance company can drop you, make you pay a deductible when you've been paying into their system for years, or refuse to honor their obligations with statements like, but the initial damage was wind not water, amount to nothing short of a con game. The insurance company, having far more money then the policy holder can fight these ruling in court and get away with it, where he faced the criminal system where he didn't. Insurance is a con game, no more no less.
These insurance companies sicken me.
