Who's leading the conversation?
This visualization below allows you to see the impact that each user has on the current conversation. The top row contains the group of users who have had the most impact, the 2nd row the group of users who have had the 2nd most impact (et cetera). Users with similar impact are grouped together, and the average score of the group is shown to the left of the group. The author of the article is also shown on the left, in their corresponding group. Each user's score is based on the number of comments the user has made plus the number of votes their comments have received. The scores are calculated relative one another, so while their absolute value is not particularly important, their relative difference does indicate a larger difference in impact on the conversation.

"Mr. Vick has agreed to enter a plea of guilty to those charges and to accept full responsibility for his actions and the mistakes he has made. Michael wishes to apologize again to everyone who has been hurt by this matter."

How does one apologize to a maimed or slain dog? Goodsell must call for a lifetime ban. His property should be seized as part of the conspiracy to commit the interstate felony. Jail is too good for him.

Heck with the lifetime ban from football. He deserves that at a minimum, and excessive jailtime on top of it. His status as a public figure necessitates punishment, to ensure that people know that just because you are being cruel to animals, you are still subject to the legal system. This case is abhorrent - each and every one of those dogs will have to be put down, as they are unfit for pets or any type of socialization with other animals, and the means of putting down "underperforming" dogs was absolutely inhuman. I think he should also have to pay for the cost of rescuing, sheltering and putting down these dogs, as well as a large donation to the ASPCA and Humane Society, simply to begin repayment for his crimes.

Adopt from your local shelter, and you pet will always remember that you rescued them!

Agreed Victoria. I would choose MUCH harsher penalty akin to the harm he's done. But legally speaking, the NFL needs to make a stand and be heard that they have zero tolerance for this behavior. I think Nike should go after anything he has left in civil court. I'd really like to see any assets he has that can be associated with this criminal conspiracy seized and auctioned off to benefit the Humane Society. But that is likely dreaming.

I was wondering who the headline was about. Had it contained the words "scum-sucking" and "@!$%#-pig" perhaps it would have been clearer.

Just a thought, and no criticism of your seed.

Vick, you absolute moron. You know on top of everything else they were doing plenty of psychoactives at these dogfights, maybe the prosecutors just let that slide because they had him nailed already.

Vick is a bad model for sports celebs. However, he is FAR from the worst, as you can see HERE.

To think my child used to wear a Michael Vick jersey while he was doing these things 500 miles away....

I am horrified by the details of dogfighting - dogs tortured, beaten, starved, maimed, electrocuted, drowned, etc. People involved in this crime have serious, intense psychological problems, and need to be helped immediately so that they may not kill again. I am glad to know that Michael Vick's crimes are being taken seriously by the public - there is no excuse for animal cruelty.

What can we do to help this situation? People around the world will be celebrating and honoring animals on World Animal Day, October 4, 2007. For more information, or, if you would like to post a prayer for animals born into the cruel and inhumane world of dogfighting, please visit our site.
