LOS ANGELES — Regis Philbin is taking on more television duties.
The co-host of "Live with Regis and Kelly," who holds the Guinness World Record for the most time spent in front of a TV camera, will host the official Oscar red carpet show, producers announced Monday.
Dennis Doty, producer of the arrivals show that airs just before the Academy Awards ceremony, called the 76-year-old Philbin "the perfect guy to serve as host."
"He knows everyone, and everyone loves Regis," Doty said in a statement.
The arrivals show will air at 5 p.m. Feb. 24 on ABC. The 80th Academy Awards will be presented beginning at 5:30 p.m.
