ISLIP — The former head of the top supplier of body armor to the U.S. military was released Thursday from federal custody after posting $400 million bond.

David H. Brooks, the former chief executive of DHB Industries Inc., which is now Point Blank Solutions Inc., has spent several months locked up on fraud charges.

Prosecutors have accused the founder and former chief executive of DHB Industries Inc. of refusing to disclose the location of millions of dollars held overseas, including $4 million recently sent to spiritual leaders in the African nation of Senegal.

He has pleaded not guilty to fraud, insider trading and tax evasion.

Brooks' bail conditions require him to wear an electronic bracelet at all times and have an armed guard in his apartment to ensure he does not leave.

The bail order also authorizes a security firm to monitor Brook's phone and computer, and make unannounced searches of his apartment for weapons, cell phones, unauthorized computers and unauthorized electronic devices.
