How Stocks Fared on Friday

Wall Street finished mixed Friday as lackluster economic reports offered investors little incentive to place big bets ahead of a long weekend. Disappointing data on manufacturing, consumer confidence and import prices reminded investors the economy is struggling. As a result, a week that began with a rally closed on a subdued note.

The Dow Jones industrial average fell 28.77, or 0.23 percent, to 12,348.21.

The Standard & Poor's 500 index rose 1.13, or 0.08 percent, to 1,349.99.

The Nasdaq composite index fell 10.74, or 0.46 percent, to 2,321.80.

For the week:

The Dow is up 166.08, or 1.36 percent.

The S&P is up 18.70, or 1.40 percent.

The Nasdaq is up 16.95, or 0.74 percent.

For the year:

The Dow is down 916.61, or 6.91 percent.

The S&P is down 118.37, or 8.06 percent.

The Nasdaq is down 330.48, or 12.46 percent.
